Britain's Got Talent - April 25th 2009, 07:55 PM

Hey there guys, I was just wondering people's opinions on Britain's Got Talent or similar shows.

This evening was the first time I'd ever seen any of this show, and I could not physically watch it, I actually had to leave the room. Now I don't want to sound pretentious or in anyway better than anyone, and if I do then I don't mean to. With that said I find this show, and shows like it, offensive. I think they exploit people, people who, and this is where I may sound like I think I'm better than others, seem to be deluded about their abilities, in such a way that you feel they wouldn't cope with the sort of rejection that inevitably happens in these shows.

I know that these shows say they make money out of people watching ordinary people do extraordinary things, and to an extent that is true but there is also a part of the show that makes money out of humiliating people.

And I don't think I can watch a show where a portion of it's profit is made from humiliation, I feel guilty for watch the small amount that I did.

Again, I don't want to sound better than people, if you like the show fine, I don't. I guess this is just food for thought.

urr i don't really think it's exploiting people.. it's their decision to go on the show. if they don't want to take the risk of being humiliated then they shouldn't audition.

that said.. the dance group on tonights show were absolutely AMAZING!. like wow.

I like watching it, I find it amazing that some people can be that delusional & some have have such an attitude & are so arrogant.

Its funny tho & you do see some real talent.

I agree with Elle, they know when they go for the audition that they might get rejected. I don't see that as exploiting people, because there's no lies about everyone getting through.
Some of the acts are AMAZING. Like, yes the dance group, and the 10 year old who sang, she had a STUNNING vioce!!

I think it's up to the person to make that decision, they know that they could get slated by the judges. A lot of them want to do it for the TV, or the opportunity to perform and have fun! I don't particularly mind the program, we have a lot of unknown talent out there, and the show brings those into focus.

His act was hilarious!! But they buzzed him out and then said yes!? I don't think he'll get all the way, I guess further entertainment later on! YAY!

It's a bit of fun really- I watch the auditions but stop there.

I like to see all the crappy acts...thats what makes the shows successful, in my opinion.

i enojoy programmes such as britains got talent cuz some of the acts are obviously there just to make tv and they put theirselves forward and they are so funny. others are brilliant so you get a bit of both which makes it a great tv programme.

when i was 7 they said i was strange
i noticed that my eyes and hair werent the same
i asked my parents if i was ok
they said your more beautiful
and thats the way

"id rather be hated for who i am than loved for who im not"

why is everything with you soo complicated,
why do you make it hard to love you oh i hate it,
cuz if you really wanna be alone,
i throw my hands up cuz baby i tried,
everything with you is soo complicated!
