I love the Saw movies. Seriously. Each one got a little harder to watch, since I'm not a huge fan of gore, but I loved them nonetheless.

Only one with a decent plot is the first one. the other ones are just gore porn. which does not appeal to me

I like watching them. I usually HATE movies with a lot of blood and yucky scenes, but I like watching the puzzles on the Saw movies.

I agree. I only liked the 1st and 2nd ones, after that they just got stupider (to me, at least). He's dead!! How many apprentices does he have??

I'm borderline on them. I've seen one of them (not sure which) and was scared to death. I didn't sleep good for weeks. I also find them triggering. I also made the mistake of trying to watch one of the movies on a night when I was, well... I was under the influence. It was not a good trip and the movie made me slightly bananas. I haven't tried to watch them since.

I loved the first three, but I lost interest with four and five. They weren't as good in my opinion.

Re: Saw 1-5 series - May 8th 2009, 06:45 PM

I actually liked all of them, except 5. 5 was very predictable, and just....Not good.

1 and 2 were the peaks though. Could have done with better acting, but overall I thought they were very clever movies. Then it just became "gore porn," as you all say. Not like that's a bad thing, but they should retain the same feel that the first two had. I just wish they could delve more into the psychological aspect again.

Plus, 1 had Danny Glover. Thats a win right there.

I love them! Two has to be absolute favourite though. I must have seen that, well, too many times(!) but I still love it. I think once you look past the actual gore of the films then the plots are actually really meaningful. I have to say I did find myself laughing when I saw the fifth one in the cinema. Apparently there's a sixth one coming out too - as much as I love the films, I really think they need to stop now.

Yeah, I agree they need to stop. In my opinion, they shouldn't have even made a 5th one. Just reminds me of all those other movies that have way too many sequels. Bleh.

And in all honesty, the first one is the only one that had the scary/creepy feeling to it. The rest just dealt and focused too much on the traps.

Not I. Too scarrrry! Like, they traps and twisted plots are clever/interesting and I can sit through them easily enough, but it's when the movie's finished that I'm most affected... eg. nightmares, freaking out in the dark, scary images when I close my eyes, etc! So while I enjoy scary movies at the time of watching them, they just mess with my head far too much and they're not worth it!

...but I'd trade it all for just a little piece of mind.

I saw the 5th one last night. I made my mummy watch it, bless her. She didn't object at first but at the first scene she wanted me to turn it off! Too much gore... and it was quite triggering too.

I can't stand them. Its not the gore, I don't see the gore as that bad...there just is no reason to me for them to keep going with this. to me they are beating a dead horse with this. Its just my opinion, I just dislike this series, and I can't stand that there is going to be atleast 9 of them.

Okay, yeah the films have been alright, but there seriously doesn't need to be any more. We get the gist of it, so why make another one? It was pretty obvious at the end of the 5th one that there would be another one, but I think i'll be getting fed up with them soon.

Wow, I have to say, I'm seriously surprised by the amount of people who seem to love these movies. How can someone find something so awful, so entertaining? The movies get worse and worse as they go on. People wonder why so many people commit so many disturbing crimes... these movies are just giving people ideas. Can someone explain to me the purpose of the Saw movies and how they are entertaining and maybe clear this up for me?

I've seen the first two and really liked them, but I heard that it just got ridiculous as the series progressed so I haven't seen the last three. If they're just senseless gore with no good puzzles I probably won't like them.

People have been committing gruesome crimes against one another since the dawn of time, so the argument that a movie is giving people ideas is inconsequential. (Actually, the makers of Saw imitated ancient and medieval torture methods because they ran out of ideas.) If someone is a lunatic and for some odd reason they want to torture and kill a bunch of people, they're going to do that, and it has nothing to do with a movie.

The purpose is to have fun with added adrenaline, all while knowing that the events depicted in front of you are fake, so no one's actually getting hurt. (Their clothes are just getting ruined with a bunch of fake blood.) If they were just slasher flicks with a bunch of fake blood and gore, I wouldn't bother watching them. But I like watching the puzzles and experiments unfold on screen.

If you don't like the movies, don't watch them. Scary movies aren't for everyone.

I love them, however, I'd like it more if there was far more gore, more torture, and perhaps more of the traps and such. I haven't seen Saw V but based on the general downward trend, I'd rather not. But in all of them, the gore is simply beautiful, it's like a form of art that gives you an amazing rush. However, it is all acting, which is somewhat of a minus.
