Eurovision 2009 - May 12th 2009, 07:30 PM

Hehe, just watching the semi finals now =P I love Eurovision in all its cheesy glory. So far I'm liking Sweden although Russia will probably win again due to politics. It's such a shame that it's not about the singing anymore =[

So anyone else going to watch it on Saturday?

The semi finals are on?

I can't stand the Eurovision. And Ireland is just embarrassing and they get worse every year.

I might watch it for a laugh. xD

Not if I don't have too. My boyfriend might be watching it and I am going to his on Saturday so I might not have a choice.

I really don't like the politics and favouritism in the voting.
Also I used to watch it for Terry Wogans drunken commentary but even he got annoyed with the politics and got off. Now it is Graham Nortan and he does my head in.

EDIT: Our song is poo (as always)

didn't watch the 1st semi final but might watch the 2nd..

Ahh the cheese... and weird music acts...

True it's never about the singing but that makes it more hilarious

But no terry wogan

Ahh no Terry Wogan I'm going to throw a party Saturday night to celebrate Eurovision though!!
I don't particularly like Graham Norton, but Bosnia & Herzegovina is my favourite act so far as usual.

Re: Eurovision 2009 - May 14th 2009, 07:24 PM

yeah but hopefully this year the voting will be less political because they're changing it to 50% public vote and 50% pannel or something like that.. basically they're trying to get rid of the unfair voting but hmm we'll have to see if it works..

our entry is actually an ok song, it's just not a eurovision song. it sounds like it would be better placed in the west end to be honest. not surprising considering it was written by andrew lloyd webber.. but still.

oh and i heard a rumour that andrew lloyd webber is going to be the one playing the piano for our entry with that jade girl singing.

it could go either way really, other countries will either think "wow thats so awesome that they've got andrew lloyd webber i'm gunna vote for them" or they're gunna think "haa they're using him because thats the only way they think they might have half a chance.. i'm not voting for them because its just so gimmicy"

oh and i too am very sad that terry wogan isn't doing it anymore.. although graham norton can be pretty outrageous and i'm sure he'll be pretty comical with the commentary.

lol if you hadn't guessed.. i am quite the eurovision obsessor.. gotta love it!

I agree, Terry Wogan's dry remarks made Eurovision worth the watch. Although now it's just good for a giggle at the costumes and dance routines. Did anyone see the 'green gimp'?

Wow! We've got over 100 points this year. Lol at Moldova's entry. I liked Sweden and Estonia but most of the songs were catchy.

Wow... I can't believe who won! I was rooting for Bosnia & Herzegovina all the way, they got pretty far this year! I'm a big let down to my own country I don't even care about them in eurovision xD Wow on the voting part when Laka (representative of B&H last year) was reading out the votes I almost died! I love that guy.
I had a few friends over for Eurovision and got a little drink in, it's been an awesome night

EDIT : Incase it wasn't obvious, I'm a Eurovision Obsessive. More specifically, Bosnia & Herzegovina Obsessive

I thought Iceland should've won but we did amazingly well! I thought we would've been at the bottom and I loved the swimming pools on the ceilings

It's a shame Ireland didn't get through I quite liked them. I voted for Sweden, as I do every year. I wanted to vote for Estonia aswell but I wasn't allowed =[

Who did everyone else vote for?

So yeah, my boyfriend went away so I didn't go out and got suck in watching Eurovision.

I liked Portugal but I didn't vote, I never do on any reality shows.

I didn't mind the song that won it was nice but they guy had one of those faces I just want to punch.

Our song still sucks, Andrew Lloyd Webber's face had melted off some more.

Graham Norton didn't do too bad but he kept talking over the presenters and then the astronauts.....that annoyed me

(I wanted them pools at the end to burst)

Re: Eurovision 2009 - May 21st 2009, 08:01 AM

Of course I watched it. I do every year, and every year I fall asleep on it. It's tradition, haha.
I just wonder who on earth allowed Alex C. with some guy in tight silver pants and Dita von Teese on stage... Germany must have lost its common sense. o_O Not that we had any to begin with. Well, it couldn't be worse than last year, and it wasn't. The song was actually not that bad... in a weird way. But well, the guy is infamous for producing weird stuff... such as "Du hast den schönsten Arsch der Welt", which translates to "You've Got the Prettiest Ass in the World"...

I for one *did* like Norway... the guy was cute. And the Andrew Lloyd Webber song was quite alright, too. And Patricia Kaas is a *legend*. I did like the Russian one for the sole reason that I understood bits and pieces of it.
