I am! I am!
xD

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing,
Watch you smile while you are sleeping,
While you're far away dreaming.
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender,
I could stay lost in this moment forever,
Every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure.

Okay I'm not really good at genres like this, I basically know about rock pop metal dance etc. but these genres I'm not good with coz I basically listen to all sorts.

Can you give some examples of Post Punk bands?

Yea, I'm into post-punk, have been for awhile now. What post-punk bands are you into?

Who do you carry that torch for, my young man?
Do you believe in anything?
Or do you carry it around just to burn things down?

Meet me tonight on the turnpike my darling,
where we believe in everything.
If we sweat all these debts then we're sure to drown,
so let's strap ourselves up to this engine now
with our God who we found laying under the back seat.

I'm no good at genres, so I looked it up and I'll put it on here for other people who don't really have a clue what it is. =]

Post-punk began in the late 1970s and persisted into the early 1980s. Contrary to what the name would imply, post-punk really developed along side and with punk rock as opposed to after classic punk’s initial 1977 boom. However, because it was a much less limited genre sonically, post-punk did enjoy a significantly longer lifespan than the rock and roll revivalism of The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, etc.
So I'm guessing bands like 'The Cure', 'Wire', and 'The Fall' right? If so I'm not really a fan of it.

Yeah, New Order, The Cure, Joy Division, The Fall, Birthday Party, Wire, Happy Mondays, Public Image LTD, Echo and the Bunnymen, etc.

Just taking the pure energy and minimalism of punk but often driving it with mood and atmosphere (instead of the typical pure anger of punk). Very broad range of genres, can incorporate disco, synths, techno, etc. Indie and Alternative music of the 80s/90s evolved from post punk. Also paved the way for gothic rock, industrial rock, hardcore, etc.

It's pissing me off I can't add videos directly.

Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yTIp...eature=related

New Order - Blue Monday
(techno ish)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3duUzBbBmmc

The Cure - Love Song
(gothic ish)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4SZhumbv0s

The Fall - What You Need
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0EoTHI7rM8

And then there is post punk revival, which is a lot more popular, more modern bands like the Strokes, the Killers, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand, Stone Roses.

well...post generally means after, but in music it usually means less mainstream and more diverse, very experimental as well.

-post rock - more instrumental based, avantgarde, experimental (and more boring in general ) version of rock
-post hardcore - more experimental and diverse type of hardcore

My favorites are definitely Joy Division, Birthday Party, and the Fall. Also got me into No Wave, which is just beyond words. So cool

Music videos from the '80s are way funnier than they should be.
I really don't mind New Order, I had no idea they were post-punk though.

They had a lot of their roots in post punk (Joy Division) but they definitely moved into electronica/dance territory. However, even though they were dance band they put a more emphasis on their lyrics than most other bands of the genre did.

I love Joy Division and The Cure (:

I saw The Cure 2 years ago...amazing to say the least!

I'm not familiar with all of the artists you've mentioned, but I love The Cure. They're amazing.
