I WAS thinking about buying it! It was right there in front of me, right beside the movie 'FANBOYS!', but I think I'll wait until I get a iMac before I start playing Sims 3.

Oh man, my sister wont shut up about this game. She wants it so much! We can't keep her quiet and we're all secretly hoping her computer wont be able to run it.
She is Sims crazy and has just about every expansion pack.
It looks pretty neat, though.

I had a trial of it, and yeah it's ok, but its not hugely different to the sims 2, and there's less stuff to put in the house, though more will come with the expansions.

I was looking at it and it seems that what Lou is saying is right. As a Sims junkie I was hoping for just a little more...though, before expansion packs come out, one could visit ModtheSims[now, 3].com. I used to love that place.

I loved the Sims 2 so might consider investing in this! I didn't even know it was coming out.

Lol, Vicki, you've got a games industry buff for a boyfriend, you should have asked =P.
Also, I can tell you your laptop will probably be able to run it fine.

It looks interesting, though as Lou mentioned, I keep getting the feeling that they're not putting enough into the stand-alone game, and relying on expansion packs for a continued source of income..such cheap tactics, lol. But effective xD.

What's the difference between Sims 2 and Sims 3? Is there just more things you can do or what?? My sister wants it, she's been completely glued to the computer ever since she got the Sims 2.

I really really overly want this.
I have exams so it's a really bad idea though.
I'm definately ordering it this weekend, might make me revise more so I can play

Re: Sims 3, It's Out, Who Has It? - June 3rd 2009, 03:37 PM

Alirght alright, I bought it, let me tell you what I think:

Pros:

It has some really cool new “rewards” and “wishes” feature that I like.
The new neighborhood is seamless, so once you load your neighborhood, you can just hop in your car and drive down the street, or to a community or shopping lot.
If your computer can handle it, the graphics are really nice.
A lot of more options for the Sims appearance.
Sims can now naturally have triplets! And babies and toddlers need less care now.

Cons:

I don’t know if something is wrong or not, but the speeds (normal, fast, faster) barely have a difference. And it takes forever to go through just one day.
There is this new thing called Story Progression Mode, and so far, most people hate it. Even though it was one of the “big” new features. Basically Story Progression Mode plays the other families for you, while you are working on one. Ok, sounds cool right? Not to much, since the speeds are really slow it takes forever to get a family where you want them. Then you go to play with another family, while you are gone the first family you made moved away and is never coming back! AH! Come back! You have no control over what happens when you are not playing with the family. I read up on the Sims 3 forums, people are having all sort of problems with this feature. They say single males end up having children some how when they come back? As well as single females. Families are moving away, and when they move they are gone forever. Or families will completely die off. Now there is an opition to turn off this feature. And honestly with loosing one of my families, I am going to turn it off when I get on later.

Other then the speed issue and Story Progreeion, the game is really great, and I think all Sim fans will really love it. <3

I know a few people who got early versions of the game, and one of the first comments I saw was "Nude skins please".

I'd like to get is, my only concerns are if my computer can handle it (it has all the requirements but it went slow enough with Sims 2) and that the expansion packs that will come with it will eat a hole in my pocket. I just assume keep the Sims 2 game and get the other expansion packs since they are about to go down in value since the Sims 3 is out.

That's what I was thinking of doing. The Sims 2 is good enough for me right now.

I want Sims 3 but I know that once I have it I will not get off the durn computer all day! I do not need that, lol. As I am pregnant and should exercise daily, ha ha. But, I also don't want to be dissapointed either. And once baby gets here I wont have time to play anyway, so I have not completely decided yay or nay yet. (Really want it though, lol.)

I'm actually playing it right now and enjoying it. I don't have a problem with the speed, I don't mind story progression in fact I think it's great. I'm having a few issues with the game play, but I imagine it will just take time to get used to it.

I love going to my neighbours houses, but I can forsee building relationships up being a huge problem.

I want it but my laptop would blow up.
I had Sims 2 for PS2 but then I got rid of my PS2, I am now thinking of getting Sims 2 for PC because it will be cheaper now and you can get expansion packs. I will get Sims 3 when I get a new laptop next year

Haha. I got it the day it came out! Target had an introductory CD-Rom with a $5 coupon, so I got that and my team member discount. Final price: $42. Woot! :P
So far, I'm loving it, although I have to get used to some of the changes

I've had it for a couple weeks. My brothers found it leaked online (shhh!) and so they downloaded it. It's awesome! It's very similar to sims2 except the ability to walk around the neighborhood, and all the custom colors/designs. those are the 2 main differences.
