I love Meshuggah, which is pretty extreme I guess.

It depends on your definition of 'Extreme Metal'
But it's always good to see more metal fans ^^

Depends what you mean by 'extreme metal'. I'm not a fan of death metal or anything along those lines but I do like my share of other genres of metal.

By extreme metal do you mean like death metal (Cradle of Filth...ew) or metalcore (AILD, ATR).
If you mean metalcore then i'm all for it. Favorite metalcore bands: AILD, ATR, Slipknot (not metalcore, but yeah), Dethklok, Arch Enemy

I was thinking more doom/death/black/viking metal, and all the subgenres within those. :P

Ah, gotcha.
I'm not a big fan of slow metal like Death metal and all that, i'm more of a metalcore person. For some reason i just really like the fast instrumentals and fast-paced screamo, lol

You mean the kind of music where they scream through the whole song, and you can never understand what they're saying unless you look up the lyrics? If that's what you mean, then no

It's not THAT bad, but it's not the kind of music I really enjoy listening to all that much.

I like Viking metal and some Doom metal, but Black and Death metal just sound terrible to me. I generally prefer my metal to have more of a melody.

There's some melodic black metal bands out there....Agalloch is almost like...mellow black-metal. It's gorgeous haha. But I see what you mean, it can be pretty harsh.
