The 100 Bands Project - August 1st 2009, 01:30 AM

I absolutely love discovering new bands that nobody's heard of on Myspace, and I like sharing "new" music with other people, so today I thought- why don't I blog about it?

That's why I've started what I call "The 100 Bands Project". The idea of The 100 Bands Project is to find and blog about 100 bands that you probably haven't heard of. I'll find a band, and blog about them- their influences, where they're from, what they sound like, why they're awesome.

You can check out the blog here- http://100bandsproject.blogspot.com

The first band I've blogged about is called Heroes For Tonight. If you're a fan of Blink-182 or Mest, you should definitely check them out!

Also, if any TH-ers are in a band, or if you know of an awesome band that I should check out, let me know (either on here or send me a PM) and if I like the music, I'll include you in the 100 Bands Project. Please include band name and myspace/website link. If the Myspace/website does not include the following information, please send it: band location, genre(s), what bands you think it sounds like, band photo and member names (left to right and what instrument everyone plays), and anything else I should know about the band (if these things aren't available on the myspace). I'm open to solo artists, too.

Your project sounds neat. I have a couple of bands in mind. One is pretty local and one is a good friend's band.

The Ocean Buried. I saw these guys at a conference and I really liked them. I have a picture with the drummer who is very pretty. [:

Rutherferd. This is one of my good friend's band. His sister actually just passed away in February, who was a close friend of mine. She died tragically whilst waiting on the corner waiting to cross the street when a car came out of no where and killed her - with her brother beside her. The song "Rose" is dedicated to her.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the suggestions! Anyone else, feel free to suggest more bands (preferably unsigned, and with a few songs up for listening on Myspace) for me to check out!

Band #2 is J Minus (they have a Rock and an Acoustic page). Again, you can check out what I have to say about them at http://100bandsproject.blogspot.com

Jason Webley is fantastic. Not sure if he's unsigned though.

I've got a solo singer. She's called Kate McGill.

She doesn't have myspace but she has a youtube account. www.youtube.com/katem3

She's unsigned and is destined for fame =)

Check her out!

Re: The 100 Bands Project - August 3rd 2009, 06:20 PM

I have 3, I'm not in any of them but I really love all of them.

Andreyka: They're pretty close to where I live. These guys were my favorite band for a while. I love them a lot. Kinda funny how I discovered them, I looked up bands that sound like Silverstein, they came up. I skipped over them, and then came back to it, and was like "WOW! "

Pangea: My friend's band. They don't have any song with lyrics recorded, but again, they're really good. They're like 16, 16, 16, and 19. It's crazy...

Richy Nix: If you listen to 89X enough, you'll definitely know who he is. I don't think you would consider him that local, but I've never heard him on any station except 89X (the Detroit alternative station), so whatever... You'll like them if you like LP

ENTER SHIKARI! BEST BAND EVER!!
(little thanks to Just.Tegan for showing me these guys)

Re: The 100 Bands Project - August 5th 2009, 10:55 PM

when i saw this it reminded me of this flyer i got. It's called summer side show 7. (happened two months ago)
You can google it and check it out(has a myspace url on there)
but most of them are pretty unheard of and stuff. Theres one band that played their called Beyond the legend. the drummer is in my class. There music is kind of hardcore/scream-o but their good.
