La Haine - August 26th 2009, 09:38 PM

AMAZING film. Anyone else a fan?¿
I watched it two years ago, and then just got it on DVD and rediscovered its absolute brilliance.

I really wanna watch this film. I've heard good things about it. I love French films.

Definitely watch it....so good. Yeah, it's great when you can listen to the French and actually understand some of it!!

If you don't mind me asking, what is the film about?

Oh, I've watched this film so many times and it's still amazing, I would definitely recommend it. Basically, it's about a group of guys who live in a ZUP in the banlieues of Paris.

From IMDb:
Quote:
The film follows three young men and their time spent in the French suburban "ghetto," over a span of twenty-four hours. Vinz, a Jew, Saïd, an Arab, and Hubert, a black boxer, have grown up in these French suburbs where high levels of diversity coupled with the racist and oppressive police force have raised tensions to a critical breaking point. During the riots that took place a night before, a police officer lost his handgun in the ensuing madness, only to leave it for Vinz to find. Now, with a newfound means to gain the respect he deserves, Vinz vows to kill a cop if his friend Abdel dies in the hospital, due the beating he received while in police custody.

Oh jaysus I'm terrible at explaining movies

It's set in the suburbs of Paris in the nineties, which were at the time really rough places with loads of troubleand violence, and it's about how the young people struggle with their conflict against the police. At the start of the movie we learn that a friend of the three main characters has been shot by the police and is in a coma in hospital, and so one of them announces that if their friend dies he's going to kill a policeman. It didn't seem like my kind of movie when we started watching it in French class, but it really grabs you (: SO worth watching.

EDIT: Oh right, there we go!! ^^

Ah, this film was amazing. I cried at the end, like the the huge girly-girl i am.
Oh i love the whole 'le monde est a nous' thing, It originally said 'le monde est a vous' which was so ironic and fitting for the whole film. La Haine was so powerful, and i really need to watch it again.

p.s: excuse my lack of accents.

& it's just like she's in another world.
