I've actually never played World of Warcraft, but I know quite a few people who do, or have in the past.
I moved this to Sports and Entertainment, if anyone disagrees feel free to move it or let me know. :] Don't just exist...LIVE. |

WoW totally sucks :P
I mean, I would play and all but like.. it costs money which I wouldn't pay and isn't worth it. It takes over lives and is much too addictive to a lot of people, I think.. |

Erm, Ryan told me to try it out ages ago but I thought "meh" and continued to play RuneScape. :p
I hear it's quite addicting which does not seem too good. :x |

Hmm well I played 'WoW' (World Of Warcraft) for atleast 3 long years, and I got so addicted I stopped any contact with the outside world apart from school, literally. (You can ask Ayak, he watched me go through this...)
I stopped ever meeting my friends, talking to them even in school. I'd even have dreams about WoW and even nightmares sometimes. I'd sit around in school daydreaming about this and not even concentrating on absoloutely any part of my academic life atall. A very hard part of this was quitting, I swear I had withdrawell symptoms, I'd not be able to sleep and get really adgitated all the time, It wasn't a nice experience. Someone once told me WoW has a similar and stronger effect than cocaine, I don't know if thats true, which I doubt is, but thats what I was told. Now, I've completely quit WoW, and I've advise no one to play, or if you do, don't let it control your life, like it did mine. xD Cazzum. x "If my body dies, let my body die, but do not let my country die" - Genghis Khan If you need advice: PM |

Some people complain about having to shell out money every month for a game like WoW, but it actually gives you as many or more game per dollar than most standalone titles. A good RPG you might pay $30 for and get 40 hours per play through, and you probably play that game three or four times through if you really like it. So that's about 6 game hours per dollar. Most FPS games probably somewhat less, as they're much shorter. If you play WoW a fair bit, it's about on par in cost. If it's most of your gaming, it's probably cheaper than buying a new game every few weeks.
Anyway, on a more relevant note, I play it and have a lot of fun. I actually haven't had much chance to the past few months thanks to dial-up internet, but that'll change in a week or two and I'm itching to get rogue-ing again.
The atoms that make up you and me were born in the hearts of suns many times greater than ours and in time our atoms will return once again to reside amongst the stars. Life is but an idle dalliance of the cosmos, frail, and soon forgotten. We have been set adrift in an ocean whose tides we are only beginning to comprehend, and with that maturity has come the realization that we are, at least for now, alone. In that loneliness, it falls to us to shine as brightly as the stars from which we came.

I was completely indulged in WoW for a good 2 years, then stopped. It was taking over my life too much, haha. But it is indeed a good game. [:

I play it and have done about 6-10 months now, really enjoy it. I can see what people say about it being addictive...but then again, and game can be like that. Really appeals to me as an RPG that never really ends and as far as the type of game it is, it has nothing close to as good at it.

I've played it, but only casually. I think if you get too involved and into your gear etc it makes it harder to stop. I wasn't and just kinda.... stopped going on, it turned into an IM program for me towards the end, couldn't do anything for talking to people

Re: World Of Warcraft. -

I played for five years before deciding it wasn't worth it anymore. The anti-social implications combined with the social complications caused me to quit. I did have:
80 Blood Elf Deathknight. 80 Night Elf Warrior (seperate server). 80 Night Elf Rogue. 80 Gnome Mage. 80 Tauren Druid. 80 Orc Hunter. Coincidentally, the Night Elf Warrior was my first character to 60 back in Vanilla, and the last to 80 in WotLK. Most had full T8, but a few still had T7.5. Obviously was taking over my life, hence the quitting part. Haven't played for 3 months or so. "Today, we will send thirty billion emails; we will send nineteen billion text messages... I always viewed WoW as the crack cocaine of video games.
With that said....I don't think I'll get around to playing it. I've heard too many horror stories about people going anti social, and I fear I may fall into that as well

I don't play it much. My friend pays for MY account if that makes sense, don't ask me to explain...
I have a 37 Human Warrior and I started a new character today, a Tauren Druid, level 10. I like it, but I can't imagine becoming addicted... I thought about you for the rest of the day. Catching my head turning to find you again. I hated myself for it. |

Re: World Of Warcraft. -

I've played it on my friend's account a couple times. It seems like a fun game. Two of my friends play it and are a bit obsessed but both are gamers anyway. It doesn't make them that anti-social
I would like the game but I don't really want to pay (how much is it? 15 bucks a month?) for it. Then again, I haven't experienced it much. All I did was fly around on my friend's game. My friend says it's worth it, but neither of my friends have to pay for their own subscription. One uses her brother's subscription, the other has a family subscription(She has an impressively nerdy family).

On a side note to this, anybody play Alliance on EU Hellfire?
At the moment I mostly play 4-5 hours a day, which keeps me tided over...and my social life is compeltly fine. Infact I'e made a few friends through it. The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways; the point is to change it.

It's fun, but definitely not worth the monthly payment.
