Parkour? -
November 1st 2009, 10:42 PM
After having watched Ultimate Parkour Challenge I thought it'd be really fun to try it out. Has anyone else done it? What'd you think? Is this one of those things that you get taught or that you just youtube and experiment with on your own?

Haha, just a heads up, I know how to fall and roll (taekwondo and jiu jtisu made me learn quickly, lol) and I have no intention of doing something like 2 stories up any time soon. I just thought it'd be interesting to try and pick up in my spare time.

Its something that can be completely self taught, but you need to be fairly creative, however classes in it are becoming increasingly common, which unless you have nerves of steel are probably the way to go about it
.You also got to make sure you're wearing the right stuff, something gets caught, or thin soled shoes and your feet will be hurting some of the drops they can take! And I think it goes without saying you need to be fit and healthy! Also this years championships in london, I dont know if you saw, the winner, Livewire, his routine here is incredible especially walking up the invisible stairs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvRdiW_Uskg I think all you need is determination, creativity and nerves of steel to be honest, and always remember to play safe ![]() EDIT: Oh, and I'd love to do it, but in the mean time I'm spending time just building body strength, and then when me and friends do go out and try a few things, my arms won't crumple beneath me But can't do anything like him haha
How can one love themselves, when they love absolutely nothing? Do something that is interesting. If it is not interesting, find out why it is not interesting. |

I think this is crazy awesome!
Although I'd love to be able to do it I think you have to have a sort of natural talent combined with being taught it. Just that agility and awareness of whats around you, which I don't doubt you have seeing as you do taekwondo and jiu jtisu. Like everyone has said, Good luck, have fun, be safe and watch a ton of youtube videos! Edit: flicking through youtube something that amused me was in the little similar videos bar beside it was a video on "Ninjas" doesn't that say it all? You are the one, the one who lies next to me, Whispers "hello, I missed you quite terribly" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ |
