Re: The Butterfly Effect - February 21st 2009, 09:05 PM

It's one of my favorite movies of all time.
Though I admit, it did take watching a second time for me to understand what was going on. Every time I see it, I notice something I didn't before. Which is one of the reasons I like it.

I also thought Ashton Kutcher's performance was amazing.

This film is IMMENSE.
Lovelovelove it.
My favourite part is the very end bit, I won't say what happens incase it's a spoiler, but it's the bit when 'stop crying your heart out' is playing...brings a tear to my eye every time : /

I thought it was hugely overrated. Not really bad, but definitely below average.

I haven't watched it in awhile but from what I remember it was really good! Think I might rent it out sometime again.

I love that film! I understood it, which i was pleased at
I wouldn't bother with the second one though, I wasn't really impressed with that.

I love this film! I think one of the main reasons I love it so much is because of the confusion it causes. I love films that make you think, or that you have to get your head around and this is certainly one of them! It's something that I can watch over and over again and still enjoy it. Definitely worth a watch [or two!] in my books :]

Re: The Butterfly Effect - March 5th 2009, 07:29 PM

Oookay, so I just bought the DVD, and it's really different to the version I watched before!!
In the one I watched before, they didn't go and see the fortune teller, and when Evan was in the mental asylum watching the home-movie, he watched a kids birthday party where he told the girl never to go near him, then when everything changed and came back to the present he burnt all his journals. Everything was okay because the girl and tommy moved away with their mum, that other guy (Lennie?) didn't go insane, and Evan and his mum were happy and okay, although Evan didn't see the girl again. But right at the very end Evan is walking down the street and he passes the girl, he turns to look at her then carries on walking, then she turns to look at him. And that is NOT the end that's on the DVD!! WTF??

I can watch it over & over...I like these sort of films....you know....about time travel or thriller....you know..Frequency, is a very good film if you liked the butterfly effect.

Slightly different, but slightly the same...

My guess is that you've now seen the version shown in cinemas and the Director's Cut. They're quite different.

Humbug. I preffered the other version.
Although the more I think about it, the more I'm warming to the DVD ending. It gives alot more to think about and consider.

Re: The Butterfly Effect - March 11th 2009, 09:07 AM

Oh my gosh I haven't watched it in so long... I need to again soon.

I haven't decided which ending I like better... hmmmm.

The different endings confused my mom and I so much... she watched it with my stepdad, and I had already seen it with my dad... we tried talking about it and didn't know there were two different endings, and we had both watched different ones. So so so confusing. :P
