Release the goo! - March 16th 2009, 09:36 PM

I'm not sure if this is a North American only commercial, but during the last month or so there has been a few new commercials made to promote Cadbury's Cream Egg chocolate egg that is being sold until Easter time.

Now at first I thought they were cute, but in the past month, I saw one of them where the Egg pushes something on the peddle to open up the garbage can, just so that the egg can be smushed on the wall. I thought this was indeed hilarious. Then it hit me, all of the commercials consist of the egg WANTING to break itself.

At first I thought 'Release the Goo' was meaning something sexual, but I concluded that it was just my own sick little mind playing tricks on me. BUT! After watching the commercials more and more, it became apparent to me that it's showing me that it's okay to kill oneself. I'll admit I giggled at the thought when I first thought about it, but then it's becoming more obvious to me that the egg always seems to want to break itself, I'm thinking it's kind of promoting suicide, although I'm positive that's not true. But to anyone who triggers easily, it would be very offensive.

Has anyone thought of this as well?

Omg, too funny!! haha I seriously see this commercial at least 2-3 times a day and the first time ever seeing it, I thought of it being a sexual innuendo. But now that you mention it, I could see it being a safe message saying it is ok to commit suicide. Now I need to see the commercial again. Thanks Matty! :]
