Arrow So, Just Bought World Of Warcraft... - March 22nd 2009, 05:13 PM

... I used to be a Runescape player. But since my boyfriend is making more money now it's affordable to buy computer games and monthy memberships. I'm not going to like starting over, but I have no clue where to start or any tips.

Come on you WOW addicts, talk to me.

I've never seen the attraction with world of warcraft, it kinda freaks me out.
So yeah, sorry i'm not being very helpful here.
Anyway, happy gaming! :]

I used to play a lot, but I donít have time to anymore. One of the greatest tips I can give you, keep everything that is worth something and sell it on the Auction House, when you get past level 10. And never buy armor, there will be plenty of drops and quest rewards to get new armor. Buying it is a waste of money.

Re: So, Just Bought World Of Warcraft... - March 22nd 2009, 06:42 PM

Ahh WoW. I played up until 4-5 months ago, and I've friends who are pretty intense in it, so I know a fair deal.
Most of my best tips are when you're capped level, getting there is fun, and I'd suggest having friends to play with... I got bored very easily by myself...but perhaps that's just me.
Also, a good guild is awesome, but some don't accept girls... yes terribly sexist, but they seem to think we cause problems.... the fact that I accidentally caused one of mine to split up is besides the point
Anyways, I'd say you're in for a lot of fun. And I'm so jealous, the death knights are amazing, but I quit before the expansion!!

The patches are taking forever to download... I'm excited to playing. But I don't know about giving up Runescape I'm just old-school I guess.

Re: So, Just Bought World Of Warcraft... - March 23rd 2009, 03:46 AM

Oh man. o.o WoW. I was addicted to that game for a good four years straight and at the moment am still trying to resist it, despite being without it for 2 years.
My advice-- enjoy it in moderation, heh heh. There's an endless amount of things to do and when you try to do it all, ya' end up wasting away 8 hours a day in front of the computer.

Oh, and make lots of friends. The more friends and the better quality the guild you join, the more enjoyable the experience will be. Have fun.

WoW, I was addicted to it for a good 2yrs. I played it constantly. Then I realized it was consuming my entire life, so I quit, lol. I'm happy to say I've been WoW free for over a yr.

Re: So, Just Bought World Of Warcraft... - March 25th 2009, 05:17 AM

I used to play WoW quite a bit, mostly with my brother. I got my dwarf hunter to like leve 50-something (51, I think...). I have been going on and off playing it for like 3 years, but I haven't played in a couple months. I get bored of it.
Anyway, that wasn't much help. Um...once you have a guild, hopefully there will be people in it that will give you tips and stuff. Yeah...well, good luck!

Love WoW, not on it anymore, I was a little bored of it once I'd reached 70 and just didn't have the same drive since I couldn't advance anymore levels. Never experianced sexism really, never had any trouble getting in guilds Had more trouble finding one that was RP and any good :P

^ Yes...it is like crack Only better

Re: So, Just Bought World Of Warcraft... - March 25th 2009, 12:09 PM

Let's just say expect to be playing by yourself often during your first 50 levels of gameplay, doing quests back and forth till your mind goes numb.
You might find some people who will be playing at lower levels, but not as much as used to be. There was a new expansion set that was released last year and everyone was pretty hyped about it, you'll mostly find people who are at the levels of 50-80.

You're going to pretty much grind on levels. As one above poster said, it's better to not buy armor at all on the NPC shops, as you do have a lot of quests and most of them you can beat them within an hour or so and get a nice piece of equipment, and monster item drops for fairly high rate.

You're in for a big change transitioning from Runescape to WoW.

Good luck in the world of Azeroth!(Name of the world in WoW)

Haha a couple of my friends LOVE WoW. They get extremely offended if I say it's a glorified Runescape Or if anyone even compares it to Runescape. I've played it a couple times on friends' accounts, but pretty much all I did was fly around. If you know anyone who plays it, find out what race they are as it will affect whther you can play together or not.

I was just about to say the same thing
I've never played it- i'm too afraid that i'll get sucked in or something.
At my school it's like a scary cult. I know like three kids who insist on missing school for weeks at a time just so they can stay home and play it.

Yes, yes it is.

I've recently started playing with Allen and some of his friends from work.

It's actually pretty fun when you have other people helping you out and running you through higher level areas.

We play mostly on weekends.. some times during the week. Just depends on our schedule.

Since you're new you should have friends help you out with quests and help you figure out how to use everything correctly.

we play on Stormscale, and IceCrown (more on IceCrown though)

Have fun!

Ye mine took 6 hours, There was a large one a little while back, you should add some people from TH, i have to install all my WoW crap onto my lappy in 2 weeks and ye would love to have a game, I havent played in a while but when i did it was pretty cool, You dont realise how much your enjoying it until you get off of it, then you want to go back on and quest it up. I got quiet addicted

Best Tip EVER: Download Quest helper, It gives you points to go to, and arrows and the quickest route, it doesnt ruin the game it just helps rather than getting annoyed of running around trying to look for 1 idiot
