Internet security? - January 14th 2009, 09:45 PM

Yeah... So apparently I need an internet security program. Any way to get around buying one at the store? Anything that I can just download?

When it got to the end of the download when I tried the Firewall, it said that it couldn't connect to the server.

Those are excellent, I can't doubt that.

I highly suggest ZoneAlarm.

Again, it wouldn't download.

Does this issue (the fact that I need internet security) have anything to do with why anytime I go to view my own profile on Myspace my I get an error report message and it makes IE close? That's really what I'm wanting to fix. Also, a lot of layout websites simply won't load for me. It'll just freeze up. Some websites have to be refreshed multiple times before they'll actually work. It's really getting on my nerves.

meh, hardware firewalls will always be better.

Zonealarm is massivly bloated, and suffers from a major flaw to any good hacker, you grant access to I.E

From allowing access to I.E, you can access so much on a computer.

Best anti virus I've used is actually a free one called.

Avira Antivir Personal Edition. Before this I use to use a paid copy of Nod32, that was good too.

Spyware use a multiple of programs, use a program called "Spybot search and destroy" this can immunize your system to certain spyware and key loggers etc etc. Also it comes with a program called Teatimer which makes it impossible to write to your registry without you knowing / giving your permission to do.

Ad-Aware is a good program to use too.

Spyware Blaster also works on the same principle of the immunization part of Search and Destroy. If you'd like, I can place the zone alarm setup file on my server and you can download it from there.

Firefox.
As for the Internet Security, using the software recommended by everyone else should keep you relatively safe.
