02202 - January 16th 2009, 06:46 AM

It's been calling me for the past three days and when I pick up I just hear silence then it hangs up. Any idea on what it is? It's getting really annoying. I'm on O2 if that's any help?

It is from o2. Its called "o2 to o2". They usually offer you upgrades and sell you stuff. I dont know why the chicken out and hang up on you. Try letting it go to voicemail a couple of times. They might want to leave a message instead to make you phone them back. At least youll know then what they want even if you dont phone them back

So it's not like a scam or anything? I've checked my voicemail and there's nothing on there. They won't let me call back either, it says the number is unrecognised.

Is there anyway of stopping it? I don't know what set it off. I didn't change any of the settings or anything.

I thought most things like this stop if you simply text them to stop?
I'm not sure,it works on my phone

Yep, it'll be your provider calling you, not a scam - just trying to get more money out of you legally, lol. You could just call o2 and ask how to stop these phonecalls.

I can't barely speak to one person that I know. Don't think I could deal with some foreign person on the other end. They didn't even speak, I just heard them breathing before they hung up! I can't call them back to get them to stop.

You could try texting "STOP" to the number. Other than that, you could ask a friend or relative to call instead.

I'll see if it rings tomorrow then try the stop thing. How is anyone meant to call though when the number unrecognised?

Re: 02202 - January 16th 2009, 01:23 PM

I googled the number and it looks like a lot of people are getting it and that it is some sort of scam trying to get your bank details. They are pretending to be 02, some people are trying to block the number but i'll try and find a sure way to stop it.

EDIT: Okay okay i found the answer. Some people recommended this site to stop the calls

http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/

It blocks them from calling you i think, i would recommend giving it a good read.

SOME phone models you can also block certain numbers from calling you, and if you never normally recieve phonecalls you could, your phone should have an opption to divert every call to voicemail

Well I've fidgeted around with my phone but I can't see anyway of blocking it. I really don't want to register for something. Is there any chance it may stop if I ignore it long enough?

O2 don't know anything about it and blocking it didn't work. It didn't do it for 2days then started again today. They didn't leave anything on voicemail either.

No, i know its not an o2 number but cant they stop a number from getting through to your phone? I'm sure there is some way that they could.

Or are you able to divert this one number?

I'm just ignoring it for awhile, they're becoming more spaced out so, if it doesn't stopped in awhile I'll just take it to the 02 shop.
