Windows won't update (Vista) - April 21st 2009, 11:27 AM

I've looked around the net and I can't find any solution so this is my last resort. I get an icon in the bottom right corner saying that there's windows updates that I need to download but when I try I keep getting the error code 0x80070426. Any ideas?

From some quick reading, this error comes with your license expires.

1) Click the Start button

2) Type: cmd in the Start Search field

3) At the top the Start window, you will see cmd.exe

4) Right Click cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator

5) Type: net start slsvc

I'm just going to say this lol ..Go back to XP!

Seriously, untill Windows 7 comes out properly, your better off.

This is what microsoft does .. they make a Good OS, then a crap one, then a Good one

like windows 98, which was great ...then windows 2000 bombed, so they made XP which was good ...then Vista bombed because of incompatiability issues and the fact that you need loads of Ram to even run a simple program ...and Windows 7 will be amazing lol ...Microsoft and thier unbelieveable marketing strategys. Gotta love em

I've had the same problem as the OP in the past, it turned out we had spyware that had changed the DNS settings on our router and the Microsoft Update service was set to ban that IP from allowing downloads. Scan your PC for spyware and see if you have a Virus calls Vundo.p. If you have it remove it and reboot your router if you have one.
