How secure is your social media? - July 20th 2013, 06:02 PM

How private is your social media? Facebook, Twitter, whatever it is that people are using. I used to be careless back in the days of Myspace and Xanga (yeah, I am that old). Facebook I was a little bit better with because I didn't use it that much and I never cared for Twitter.

However, in 2011, I really changed my standards. I had a crazy ex stalk me. He started adding people he didn't know on Facebook in order to get to me. He added a bunch of people. Most turned him down. I also think I left my password stored on his computer because he added only people I talked to, played "poke" with, etc on there but didn't add the people I texted a lot. Now it is so private you cannot even google my name to have it pop up. I also keep that ex blocked.

My Facebook is family only.

My Twitter is in-character, I rarely spread personal things and mostly tweeting about my progress in WWE'13 leagues, also, a follow is a follow back!

PSN to me is a gaming network where I have not really anything to hide (Except for real living place and personal things), I'm free to add there.

Re: How secure is your social media? - July 20th 2013, 07:43 PM

My facebook is only for people I've met in real life, and I periodically clean it out of people I don't talk to anymore. If I'm not friends with someone, I think they can just see what school I go to and my profile picture. I don't mind that because people from my work have had to find me, and that makes it easier.
My twitter isn't locked or private at all, because I don't post anything substantial or compromising.
My tumblr doesn't even have my name on it, but I do sometimes talk about my school. I don't let people I know in real life follow me though.

Sorry I couldn't be there, I was tied to a rocking chair.

Pretty much any stranger who searches me on facebook can't see much at all. Just my name, cover photo and profile picture (which you can't click on). I regularly check my security and use their "who can see my stuff?" feature to make sure nothing is public. I only have friends who I would talk to and who I don't mind seeing what i'm up to.
My twitter is private, but I rarely use it anyway. Instagram is also private.

Re: How secure is your social media? - July 21st 2013, 12:58 AM

I searched myself from my other Facebook account that doesn't have much information on it. I can see other people's posts on my timeline/what they have tagged me in, but not my own statuses. They can see my profile photos and photos I'm tagged in but not my mobile uploads. They can see my birthday, gender, and religious views. So less secure than I thought but I guess I'm not overly concerned yet.

Let it come and let it be...

My facebook is pretty much as private as it gets (that was the condition on me being allowed one). I've searched myself on my sister's account before we were friends and you can just see my dp, which is not of me, because my aunt and uncle are protective like that, and where I work.

My instagram is private also; people request to follow me and only if I accept can they see my pictures.

I'm not entirely sure tbh. I think only friends can see my posts. How could I check? I do add people from TH and other forums on my Facebook, as well as my real life friends.

My facebook is pretty secure, only my friends can see my personal details and statuses, but my pictures can be seen by anyone as that was the conditions for me to have facebook. But I tend to add people I know well online too, which I guess isn't a good idea

I'm here if anyone wants to talk, I'm always here. Feel free to VM or PM me

Somebody who is not my friend can see my university, job, and some of my profile pictures/cover photos. I also block people very easily if you tick me off. I'm pretty low-tolerance for annoying people.

I never even log in to my Facebook account anymore, but Friends of Friends can just see my location and work details (TH ).

Re: How secure is your social media? - July 27th 2013, 12:19 PM

FB: Only my friends see anything - and yes, I even tag some of them as "acquaintances" because I don't really want to know them, but it would be awkward if I declined their offer because I am associated with them for whatever reason.

Friends wise, I add some people from other social networks (LM) and even though they are all around 20, they generally don't speak english natively. So far, I have an American (who speaks English ), a guy from Belarus and an awesome guy from France. There's also this kid my age from Tunisia, and I used to have quite a few vietnamese friends (my age) but they would always message me and say they liked me or whatever and I just found it too annoying to deal with so I deleted them all.

I have added a few guys from FB groups who I don't know personally, except for one because we met. And I don't add family or people I don't actually associate with in real life but I know. So mainly, it's just close friends!
