I have McAfee which I love. But in addition to McAfee I use a-squared, which is another scanner that works in addition to any other virus scan program. It catches ALL the ad-ware, trojans, spy-ware, cookies, tracking devices, etc. I love it! Here's a free link to it. Good luck!

I use AVG and it seems to be working pretty well with me.

Avast is good. It's what I use.

The information on recommended software can be found in this sticky: click here! It has a section of anti-virus software, it should help answer your question.

Since there is already a sticky on this, I'm going to close this. PM me if you'd like me to re-open it.

I'd sing you a song, but I'm feeling quite off
in my heart; it's occupied,

and now's not the time.

Avast is also pretty decent. Check out this thread:

It'll give you a good list of security programs =)

I recommend that as well as an anti-virus program, you invest in a firewall of some kind, which will actually block most of the attempts these programs make to get into your computer.
