Virus scan. - April 26th 2009, 09:38 PM

I did a computer scan, it found some warnings which are mainly all tracking cookies which were moved to the virus vault or something. In the results, there is two buttons that say "remove selected infections" and "remove all unhealed infections".

What are they on about? Do I click them to remove these tracking cookies or something because I don't want to click something and mess it all up.

Im guessing by the Virus Vault your using AVG? im probably wrong but the vault is the safe place were they are stored if you wish to keep them, best thing to do when your anti virus picks up these threats is to delete them

remove selected infections - means the software is going to delete them off your computer

remove all unhealed infections - means the software hasn't be able to mend them but they are okay to be deleted

Tracking cookies are bad, so yeah get rid of them

As Natasha said, "Remove Selected Infections" will remove the files off the hard drive and from the vault. "Remove all unhealed infections" will delete the files that it can't repair.

Tracking cookies are particularly bad - they're just used by advertisement agencies. When you see an advert, it stores a cookie on your computer to say that you've seen it. The effect it has is that it can be used for websites that only show an advert once each time a user logs in, or once every set amount of time.
But yeah, they're not going to harm your computer by being there, but it's safe to remove them.
