Chkdsk issues? - April 27th 2009, 12:05 AM

If anyone can fix this for me, or help me fix it rather, I will love them forever.

A month ago, my computer detected a corruption on the main drive. When it does into CHKDSK, it gets about 40% completed, then just stops. Nothing happens. I've let it go for a while, and it never keeps going.

And now I can't make a backup because Windows won't do it if there is a corruption to the drive.

He who fixes it is god.

(Windows Vista, about 1 year old, 2GB of Ram, etc)

Oh, and I should probably add that I've been getting the BSOD daily.....

What's the code that comes up in the BSOD screen?
I'm looking for the name of the error (usually at the top, all caps, words seperated by underscores), and the error code - something like 0x00000000. (Don't need the stuff after the first one).
Any driver names would help too - <name>.sys or <name>.dll would be what you're looking for.

It's quite probable that the BSOD and the drive corruption are related - fixing one will hopefully fix the other.

My apologies for sucking and forgetting about this topic. I took it to a professional techy guy, and he said the hard drive failed. haha, oh joy.

Oh man. That's awful.

But since you know what happened, I'll close this. PM me if you want it reopened.

I'd sing you a song, but I'm feeling quite off
in my heart; it's occupied,

and now's not the time.
