Thoughts on Smart Watches? - July 2nd 2015, 09:58 PM

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on Smart Watches.

We have the Apple Watch and android wear which I believe are the most popular models. What are your thoughts?

Take care ~Justin~

I still don't really see the point of them since don't you still need to have your phone on you to use them? So why not use your phone?

I agree with Dez, they seem a bit pointless and they are really expensive for what you get. In my opinion, instead of buying a Apple watch then you might as well buy the latest iPhone.

A colleague of mine bought one and I agree with the people above me. He was trying to explain to me what was so cool and different about them, but when you most likely have your phone on your person, I feel like the SMART watches are a little overkill.

I do think that they're designed to be slick and easy to use. But I feel like for £300 I could buy myself a really nice watch or even a Swiss watch!

A good idea, yeah. But not really needed I feel.

Honestly, it seems like another gadget that really isn't necessary. With all the other devices do we really need a smart watch? It seems like another gimmicky toy that apple wants to cash in on.

Why pay 80 dollars for designer jeans when you can go to a department store and grab you a pair of jeans for 15 bucks? People just wanna buy fancy stuff so they can sleep at night believing that they're impressing everyone.

I bought a Casio sport watch and it does everything I want a watch to do. 150 bucks can buy you a nice watch; regardless of whether it's sporty, or classy. Unless you're a watch enthusiast, there's no point in paying that high of a price for a watch; especially of that kind.

I don't really understand the need for it, since you always need to carry your phone. I'd rather buy a new phone.

I'd rather buy a new phone instead of investing in a Smart Watch.

My boyfriend has one and I think it's a waste of money. I'm not sure if you always need to have your phone on you to make them work though. I know my boyfriend always has his phone on him when he uses it but there have been times when his phone has gone completely dead and he still uses the watch.

Your given a completely new number with the watch he has so it's basically like having a new phone. You can hook it up to your phone...probably via bluetooth.

I like his watch but I think he could have spent his money on something more important. He's paying for it monthly though so it's only a small fee that will add up over time.

Basically, I would never waste my money on it but if you're big on technology like my boyfriend is it might be a cool gadget to have.

My childhood dream was to have a gadget wristwatch that had a portal to transport you and to talk like walkie talkies (before smart phones) and for you to drag and drop everyday items into this watch thing so you don't have to break your back by carrying school books. Now that would be a fantastic smart watch =3

I can understand spending over 150 dollars for a smart watch being a waste of money. But I have a coworker who has the pebble which is less then 100 bucks. and its pretty cool. But I can see the use of it though. The smart watch sends any notification be it phone call, email, or text message to your wrist so you can see whats happening. for example, you could be busy working but need to be notified of an important email or phone call and you may have to keep your phone of vibrate or silent so having the watch there can help a lot with notifying you of an alert.

If I had the money it'd be a pretty cool gadget to have, I'd get an apple on because I use apps with my iPad. But it's too much money and not useful enough to be worn it at the moment.

I think they're unnecessary and they're going to be short-lived.
