Hey there Maddy,

We are the only ones that can control what we do and don't do. We make choices for our own self. Usually, if you want to change something that you are doing, you need to ask yourself if that is what you want to do, if that is something you want to work on to change.

No one can stop you from doing things. We can't stop you from using a website like Omegle, you need to have that willpower to do that for yourself.

A few questions that could benefit you is asking yourself if that site has a purpose for you. Does it bring you any help or joy? If it doesn't than you have the choice to change that. You are the only person who can change your actions and choices in life. That doesn't mean they are bad, it means if you don't want to use Omegle anymore, you need to stop going on that site.

Everyone here on TeenHelp and around the world makes choices for themselves whether if it is right or not right, we only have control over our own actions.

Some things you can do is block Omegle, so you won't go on it. There is more options that you can try but you have to be willing to do those things if you want to stop going on Omegle. Some of those things can be:

  • Blocking Omegle
  • Talking to someone as to why you go on Omegle and why you don't want to continue to go on that site
  • Doing a pro and con list of reasons why you wish to stay and why you wish to leave that site
  • Finding other things to do to preoccupy yourself with, like a game
  • Finding more activities to do other than being online, like being more active, being involved in a sport, or volunteer

You are the only one who can change if you wish to stop using Omegle or not.

Hopefully this allowed some insight and other things you could do instead of going on Omegle. You are the change if you wish to make those changes.

Take Care.

There are some programs that allow you to block certain websites. You could install one of those and have someone else set the password, so you can't access it.

That would stop you from being able to access omegle. Atropos had some great suggestions, I think you should try some of those as well.

What is the reason for you using omegle? I know it's a chat site kind of thing, is it because of loneliness? Or is it just boredom? Or something else? If you can figure out the reason you want to use omegle, you can work on finding a replacement for it. For example, if it's loneliness, you could work on relationships offline, perhaps join a club, hang out with friends from school etc. If you can't leave the house or don't have those options, you could become a pen pal with someone and write letters. If it's boredom you could take up a new hobby, like some form of crafting. There are plenty of options.

Take care.
