Pokemon Go? - October 4th 2016, 01:19 AM

Anyone here play?? I like it because it helps me exercise, and reminds me of my childhood. Just something fun to do while taking a walk.

Re: Pokemon Go? - October 4th 2016, 10:55 AM

I downloaded it when it became available in Canada. However, the phone I use doesn't have data so I played inside my home and at work. Then, I forgot my login information so I've stopped playing it.

I saw a lot of kids with there parents going for walks, bonding, getting outside. It was really nice to see. I didn't see that before. So the game 'forced' parents and children to go outside and bond (how I look at it) and they would talk about different topics and interests.

How many Pokemon have you caught?

I am glad that taking a walk now for you is more interesting with Pokemon.

I played a lot for a while and then I ran out of balls and didn't go to any pokestops. I forgot to get the one near my doctor's office today

Re: Pokemon Go? - October 5th 2016, 12:09 AM

I was late to the craze because I had to wait until I got a new phone, but I've been playing for a couple of months now and I still like it. One of my friends is still into it as well so we tend to go Pokemon-hunting together whenever he's in town. I've found that I've been going for more walks since I started playing, although it confuses my poor dog because we'll be out walking and I'll stop suddenly to catch something so she'll just look up at me like "what are you doing you silly human".

just because it hurts to go on
doesn't mean the battle can't still be won

I play, though I was a little late to the party with it. And I consider myself a very casual player. I still have never used a gym, I'm mostly just playing to try and catch everything and have fun with it.

Re: Pokemon Go? - October 6th 2016, 07:00 AM

started playing in august, made it to level 8 - then stopped when college started again. I also never really graduated from collecting pokemon to playing with them at gyms, i just liked collecting them and then when i realized that wasnt the object of the game , i stopped- mainly because my GPS was messing up and wouldnt register when i was close to my nearest gym.

basically i was interested for a short while and then just stopped. it was a new thing and then it wasnt

Re: Pokemon Go? - October 6th 2016, 06:03 PM

I can't play at the moment because my phone is too old and my iPod can only connect to wifi. That said, I am getting a new phone for Christmas so I hope to be playing soon! I would probably be a casual player but at least it will get me out of the house

Re: Pokemon Go? - October 8th 2016, 06:07 PM

I can't play because I have a flip phone lol! But someone I know has it on her phone and I remind her about it but she says it takes up "data" so y'know
It is also funny when we are in the train and it says we are going too fast lol!
I also don't know enough about Pokemon but I totally get the sentiment of reconnecting to one's childhood and bonding and exercising without it feeling like "exercise" and having something that excites you. That's so important and anything that excites you is valuable even if it isn't pragmatically "useful". If I interests you, it is useful in my books. No matter how "childish"it seems, it isn't a waste of time. People can point fingers and call it that all they want.

I think it hits close to home because I do a lot of "childish" things but I'm not harming anyone. I just enjoy childhood things. Ehem neopets, cough cough

Re: Pokemon Go? - October 8th 2016, 11:03 PM

I don't really have an opinion as I have never played it I feel it's ok but people I've seen have really let a game take over their life and I disagree with that side of it if something is that addictive I suggest they don't play lol some people I use to work with played while working on the shop floor in front of customers which I couldn't believe but it does look fun. :rem:

I like how it's been bringing people together. There have been so many public events and people have made new friends. It seems like it's good for people with depression and anxiety, as it gets people out of the house and exercising. I found Pikachu yesterday so I got very excited. :P
