I think I have a virus -
February 14th 2017, 02:34 PM
So I got a pop up on my computer from my anti-virus saying it has a virus that it can't contain or destroy.
What should I do, I found a program that clams to be able to remove it, should I trust it?
Nothing has actually happened yet, should I wait and see if it does anything?

Have you tried doing an anti-virus scan? Most of the time wiping your computer you lose all of your files. You could also consider taking it to your local computer repair shop. They are usually pretty good at finding and removing the virus. If you live in Canada or the US I know they have Geek Squad. I've had to use them in the past and they helped a lot.
I hope this helps!

Try using Avira, AVG, Bitdefender, or Panda (all have free options) anti-virus software. You could also try a system restore to an earlier date prior to having the virus to see if this removes it. If those don't work and your extremely concerned about it, you can pay someone to remove it for you (i.e. BestBuy), but I don't recommend this. As a last resort, you could reformat your PC, which is what BestBuy would probably do anyways. Depending on the nature of the virus, it may not be a big deal. It's likely you have viruses you're not even aware that your anti-virus software isn't picking up, regardless.
