Toshiba? - May 22nd 2009, 07:05 PM

Okay I am graduating and my parents are getting me a latop for college. I went to the store last night to look at which one I wanted. I saw a Toshiba Satellite Laptop that seemed really nice. It was 14.1" and 4 GB RAM (which I guess is good...) and it had everything on it that I wanted/ need.

So my question is, does anyone have a Toshiba? or What are your thoughts on having one?

I never had a Toshiba. Right now I have a Acer and I don't like it at all.

Thanks in advanced.

I have a Toshiba :]
I have an Acer computer and i've had a much more expensive HP laptop, and I don't rate them at all. This laptop however, is very reliable. I can't say that i've had any problems with it, but with my other laptop I had numerous problems.
Basically, what i'm trying to say is that I would recommend a Toshiba :]

I have a Toshiba Satellite!

It is my first laptop and i'm pretty proud of it, it puts up with me regardless of the muck i do with it.

Obviously it depends on what kind of stuff you want to do with it. It seems like it's just gonna be college stuff really, which is great!

Mines been running for a year, i clog it up and run games that it really shouldn't run, and it still puts up with me. So i think it would be perfectly fine for you.

Toshiba is a good brand of laptop. I have a sony vaio, and I LOVE it. Just make sure the laptop you get has core duo processors.

I would definitely recommend you getting one.
I've yet to have any problems with it.

See, brands are only important up to a certain point, it's the components inside it that matter more.
Looking at the laptop you've described there, from what you've said, it seems quite decent =).
How much backing storage does it have?

Thank you for everyone's help.

I actually just bought it an hour ago and I am using it now. It is a lot more better than I thought it would be.

Does anyone know how I can transfer all my itunes music from my old laptop to this one?

Toshibas are great!
Acers suck!
Glad you got the Toshiba!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe to transfer your music you are going to need an external hard drive (or jumpdrives, or whatever external storage system you have that will hold it all). Move it from the old one, to the storage system and put it onto the new one.

Fairly simple

PM me if you ever want or need to talk, I'm always around

I have a Tosihba Salitlite.

Toshibas are not show horses or race horses. they are work horses. They are not the prettiest or the fastest for your price...

They are not the cheapest or most expensive. They will work hard to the bitter end. They are probaly the most reliable and durable laptop at the price point.

HP is flashier with all the bells and whistles. But guess what according to several reputable consumer magazines. like Consumer Reports and Computer World. Toshiba is in the upper middle and HP is always on the buttom. Acer is no where to be found(not enought response to be applicable?). Acer's quality is suppose to be improving. But they are likely to suck more then toshiba.

Think of Toshiba as a Toyota. They are boring but they are reliable.

But things are changing for Acer. Acer America bought out awhile ago Gateway. Gateway makes really reliable machines too.

Toshibas are pretty good computers. I hear they're very reliable. And you've got a great amount of RAM there, if you've got a good processor it should be very fast. Yay!

I'd sing you a song, but I'm feeling quite off
in my heart; it's occupied,

and now's not the time.

Toshiba is your best brand for PC's, hands down. Other brands just tend to break down. So definitely go for it, especially if the PC has a 64-bit Operating System!
