Voice Memos (iPhone) - May 14th 2017, 09:33 AM

Morning all.

I have an exam coming up that involves memorising short-essay answers to 30 psychological terms, as well as 6 essay plans. My plan for this is to have them all in bullet points and then record them as voice memos on my phone. Make a playlist with these and then I can listen to them in the car, at home, even while I'm taking old documents out of our personnel files at work.

Unfortunately I haven't really used voice memos that often and Apple Music has royally f*$%ed my music library functionality on my laptop. I can't choose which music to sync to my phone, I can't make new playlists on my laptop and sync them over, it's a complete disaster. Buuuuut I like Apple Music so...

I've got them on my laptop, but I can't get them into a playlist on my phone. I tried to sync them to a playlist but got a message saying only music could be in a playlist and if I added the voice memos to it then it would be removed from my phone and only be available on my laptop.

Surely there must be a way to get voice memos into a playlist? I've tried Google and found nothing.
Is there even another app I can use that will let me record sound and copy it into my music library? The exam is less than a month away. I went to a prep day-school yesterday, I'm really hammering through what I need to do, but I can't get the stupid voice memos to work.

Edit: I changed the file type to audiobook so I can at least listen to them, but it thinks they're all one book called Voice Memos, each file is a chapter. I can't shuffle chapters so it's not really much use.
I already tried changing the file type to music but it won't let me copy them to my phone then either.

Hey!
Well, there should be a voice recording feature. It was there when I had an iPhone (although the new OS may have removed it). But either way, if thats an option, just record it on the voice recorder, name them accordingly and Bob's your uncle.
There are heaps of apps you can try (just record, record plus etc etc). But I'd say just use the built in voice recorder.

Or, you can record it as a video on your phone and do it that way.
Hope this helps!
Best of luck on your exam!

The inbuilt thing is the thing that isn't working. It's called Voice Memos and you can't import Voice Memos to your music library because Apple sucks. I can record them on there but it means playing them one at a time. I need something that will play them all, preferably in a random order, without me having to pick up my phone and press play each time.

I'm thinking I might have to use my laptop to record them and save them as a format that iTunes will allow in my library, maybe .mp4 or something.

Hey!
Yeah you can record on your laptop, then convert it to an MP3. That format is accepted by iTunes. Beyond that I can't think of any solutions sorry
Hope you manage to get a solution though!

Have you checked off import voice memos when you sync your phone? I have voice memos on my phone that are in my music in both iTunes and on my phone in the music app.

When you go to synch your phone, go into the music tab, and make sure you've selected to sync the voice memos.
Spoiler:

Then, make sure you have selected to sync the voice memo playlist to your phone. I made a playlist as an example to demonstrate:

I have done, but because I have Apple Music anything I want to put on my phone has to be imported to my cloud music library or something and Apple will not allow Voice Memos to be imported to this cloud.
In theory I could disable Apple Music until my exam but then what am I paying for? The majority of my library comes from Apple Music at the moment.

At least that should work then if nothing else does. All I have to do now is get my laptop to accept I have a working mic installed.
