HELP - June 9th 2018, 10:31 AM

I come from a very religious family, a little too harsh and conservative so they’re gonna literally kill me for this.

Basically I didn’t mean to open this really inappropriate site “pornhub” but i accidentally did and it opened on my iPad a few minutes ago

I got a notification that my IP address is no longer secure and that my information is being tracked
There was a countdown on the pop-up that was counting down from like 6 minutes and something seconds until my info and data is exposed

So I quickly clicked update to secure the IP address and history, but the VPN security app thingy had to be purchased (not for free) so I couldn’t buy it

Basically it’s been over 6 minutes by now and I think all my info is being tracked down and reported, and probably leaked soon. I’ve been doing all this thru private browser on safari on my iPad, and I am still on private browser currently, but even the teenhelp web address is flashing red saying “NOT SECURE” and I still see it now.

Will my family get the leaked data and browsing history thru our IP address ? Will the data get leaked and people will be able to see what i accidentally opened on my iPad? I did not mean to open the link but now that stupid pornhub website hacked my iPad and took all my info and IP address data.

HELP WILL I BE EXPOSED FOR “OPENINGL” THE WEBSITE WHICH ALREADY HAD CLIPS AND VIDEOS PLAYING ON ITS OWN EVEN THOUGH I DIDNT MEAN TO OPEN IT? WILL THOSE VIDEO TITLES AND VIDEO ITSELF BE REPORTED TO MY HOUSEHOLD?

HECK EVEN THIS POST I WROTE ON TEENHELP IS BEING TRACKED AND REPORTED RIGH NOW AND MY PARENTS WILL SEE IT

I really doubt your parents will be able to see it. Sites like that usually send scares so that you'll freak out and buy their antivirus but it's just an ad. They told you to buy one specific antivirus right? Especially if you were on private mode on your private iPad, I doubt they'll be able to see anything, and even if they could access it through the Ip address I really doubt they'll check that anyway.
To be safe though, I would delete all history and cookies, etc. It might help your peace of mind too. Also try downloading adblocker, look it up and it will take you through the steps.

There are some porn websites that already have malicious software fronting as ads. But these are so hard to find, you'd need a specialized software that gives you a fake VPN.

However, that isn't to say ads or javascript on the surface web aren't harmless either! It is strongly advised to install an ad blocking software (look thru plugins to install on your browser) and a trustworthy anti virus program.

I think we all accidentally click on something we don't mean to!

No, you are fine, the thing you saw pop up was an ad to get you pay money for something you don't need. It was fake.

Unless your parents are tracking what you do on the internet then there is not much of a chance that they will find out.

The only thing that the pornhub site should have is your IP address but every where on the internet tends to do that.

Best regards.

Re: HELP - June 10th 2018, 11:00 AM

Hi guys the only thing is that even after i blocked the popup my network/wifi thing on my ipad kept saying Network is no longer secure, information may be open to others,etc..... this is the actual network/wifi connection on the ipad, not the pop-up itself.

Also, even after i turned everything off, after i was still using private browser to go on Teenhelp and post this post this morning, the URL address bar at the top of the screen (where you type in web urls and site names and etc), had a red message ON it that said "Not Secure". Then after the red message, there was a line/dash thing, and THEN there was the teenhelp.org web address written right next to it. I am scared.

I might be giving my ipad to my cousin who lives out of state in Cali. I've been considering this for a while since he's starting college and might find the tablet useful. Anyways, since his location & IP address is different, and i will obviously completely reset the ipad so it can become his (or he'll probably just reset it himself so it can become HIS ipad), would my parents still be able to track down the data if they try to get to our IP address?? They are very protective and probably have tracked down & searched through our history's & IP address history before to make sure everything was fine, and I think they're gonna do it again soon. Help?!?!?!?

Re: HELP - June 10th 2018, 01:50 PM

I'm not an expert so I could be wrong but if the network isn't secure, it usually means that the network or router doesn't have a password/encrypted key, so it may be that others can join your network without you knowing.

As for TeenHelp, it does show up as 'not secure' on my browser. That said, it's not much to worry about as usually websites show up as not secure so that you can be wary of entering sensitive information like credit card details as it can be stolen by attackers.

If you re-set the iPad for your cousin then there wouldn't be much of a concern as all the data and web history would be deleted. I'm not sure how it works where you are, but where I live the only way you can see if an IP address has accessed a website (aside from checking internet history and temporary files/cookies) is to contact the Internet Service Provider (ISP)...and that's usually only done in extreme circumstances such as fraud and other legal things. So even though websites have your IP address, and the ISP can list what sites have been accessed, it's unlikely that your parents would find this information out.

Re: HELP - June 10th 2018, 02:09 PM

If you mean on your web browser, make sure the hyperlink begins with HTTPS, not HTTP.

My browser (Firefox) shows a lock with a red strike through it, which is indicating that TeenHelp is not a secure website.

I could be wrong, but I think there's probably untrustworthy advertisements. I don't know, I have ABP (Ad Block Plus) that hides them.
