Ipod Earphones - June 12th 2009, 12:32 PM

I managed to destroy mine yesterday so I was just wondering, will earphones like these be compatible for an ipod or do I have to go for the standard Ipod earphones?

As far as I know any headphones can be used with iPods so you don't have to splash out on a new pair of iPod headphones. So they should work.

Any earphones work! Most are better quality than the ones you get with the ipod itself. I personally have JCB headphones

Yep, they will work with your iPod.
I'd personally recommend JVC 'gummy' headphones as they've been very reliable, they're good quality and they're cheap, too

Where can I get hold of JVC gummy headphones since all I can find is the Wharfedale ones?

HMV and John Lewis sell them, too.
They're pretty popular so I don't think you'll have much trouble finding them on the highstreet.

Haha nope, Tesco and Asda are like a half hour drive away and I have no way of ordering anything online.

Okay, so what shops are around you then? If you could tell us what shops there are then perhaps we could tell you where stocks the headphones?

Morrisons?
Argos?
Smiths?
Co-op?

There's not all that many.

Re: Ipod Earphones - June 12th 2009, 01:21 PM

If that's all the places nearby then I guess you're going to have to stick with an alternative from Argos. I've had a look on the websites for the shops you mentioned but I couldn't find the headphones on there. I guess of the choices you've given, Morrisons would be the most likely place to have them other than argos.

I guess the wharfdales ones may have to be your subsitute. Usually though, in my experience, cheap headphones tend to break after a couple of months (the only ones i've found that haven't have been the gummy ones). So I'd recommend that you either get some more expensive headphones which will last a long time or a cheap pair which you're willing to replace every few months if they break

What I normally do is have a cheap pair as back up? But use the gummy ones, then at least you have a spare pair incase one breaks.

Yup, should work so long as they have the same sized silver bit, however the cheaper you get the less quality they are likely to be and also the sooner they are likely to break, i personally buy ipod ones of amazin and they tend to lest about a year

Re: Ipod Earphones - June 13th 2009, 02:38 PM

So many reply's on this, yet not a correct answer!

Alright, different headphones have different features and jack sizes, I guess you'd call them. I know for a fact, some headphones that have certain remotes or volume knobs and such don't work to the 'fullest' with certain devices, such as iPod's! However, you'll still be able to hear out of them. As far as the jack sizes go, the prong from the headphones just might be too big or too small for the jack in the iPod itself, as some headphones are made for certain devices or devices from other countries where things are a little bit different.

However, virtually any pair of headphones from your local computer store would work. Universally, any pair will work so long it doesn't have extra features, or are from another country.
