Getting the sound from a youtube video. - July 2nd 2009, 06:50 PM

Is there anyway to get a song from youtube, without the video so I can listen to it on iTunes? If so, how do I do that?

If you know what the song is you could download it from itunes or somewhere else.

I would but it's a live lounge recording and they normally release an album of the songs so I don't know when it'll be out to get this song.

There are loads of ways to do it, but my personal preference is doing this:

-Right click [link] and select "copy link location" (firefox - varies on other browsers). - TH won't keep the javascript link.
- Go to this page and right click the "Get YouTube Video" link. Copy the link location.
-Go to the YouTube video and paste it in the address bar and hit enter. You'll get a download pop-up called video.mp4. That is the video is the highest available quality (HD/HQ/Standard). Save it to your computer.
-Use any mp4 to mp3 converter you like. My favourite would be Tunebite but that's a commercial program. A free one that I've used is here.

If you look around that site, you'll find a "Youtube to MP3" converter, but I've never tried it and it might be out of date with the HD videos. Naturally, HD videos have a better quality audio track to them.

Hope that helps.

I think that the problem has been solved here, so I'm gonna go ahead and close this, PM me if you want it reopened.

I'd sing you a song, but I'm feeling quite off
in my heart; it's occupied,

and now's not the time.
