Question Game Design Team - July 7th 2009, 05:45 PM

Hello every one well name says it all

I have a lot of game ideas and for the most part know how to put it together or i'm willing to go through the tutes and practice to learn the rest of the programming.

I use a game engine called Game Maker 7 and i have a licensed copy to use the pro version of the engine.

alright with intro and detail given right now im looking for any one that would be interested in being a sprite atrist for 2 D games from platformers, scrolling shooters, puzzles and more.

I still have a lot to learn about the engine but i'm hoping some one else would be intrested because graphics have proven to be a pain. So if any one is intrested in being a sprite artist or helping me become better a better one it would be greatly appreciated.

Just reply to this even if you havnt done it before it would be great to have some one to work with we could learn how to sprite together and learn the engine as a team. I'v been saying this like im looking for one person but more would be great to I can't say a insane amount of people but if any one is interested just reply or pm me

Re: Game Design Team - July 7th 2009, 06:11 PM

Hey there. i'd love to help... There's only two little problems on my end.

1. My PC is not accessible to me for a little while. i'm out of town until my Fiancee gives birth, and

2. I have yet to re-grease my abilities with spriting, and my abilities with GM7. (I was working with RPG maker XP and VX for the last little while).

Could you PM me with some of your ideas, and I'll pass along some of my samples, and you can tell me if you like it. The way things are going, I'll be able to pass along some of my work in about a Month. I hope you'll consider my artwork, and I wish you luck on your games.

~Mizu

PS. be sure to send me a Demo of your first game, kay?

Re: Game Design Team - July 8th 2009, 02:15 PM

First off, game design refers to creating the mechanics, rules and everything of the game. On paper. Before anything else starts. The story must be written(if there is one), any rules/solutions to puzzles, every item, almost everything that will be in the game will need to be in this document so everyone on the team is on the same page. It helps to have concept art here too so if you have multiple artists all the sprites match.

I think game production team is more what your looking for. But just having a game engine and some sprites wont get you games. Take a look at this page. Ignore everything there but the outline, that's a basic assessment of what needs to be done to create a game.

So yeah, that said and done. I'm willing to help if you need it. I am more of a game designer than anything else, but I'm pretty good with picture editing programs if need be.

Well said Dasha, I was going to say the exact same thing ^^;.
I'm actually studying Games Design at the UK's best place for that kind of thing, so I guess I know a good bit about it, though it's more stuff in the industry and that.
But be sure to take Dasha's advice, make sure you've got the design mapped out properly before you start looking for sprite artists.

Re: Game Design Team - July 8th 2009, 08:19 PM

hey,
ive been making small adventure games for a while now using the AGS engine...(anyone whos heard of it will know its not very advanced but EXTEREMELY user friendly.) anyway, ive become quite comfortable scripting and stuff but not too fantastic at sprites :P

but i'd really like to work with a team as i feel that will enable me to create better games, and learn abit as we go.

im not fantastic, but if you want a little help on the new game just PM me ...i have loads of ideas
