HELP!!!! - July 16th 2009, 03:54 AM

Something's going on with this computer. Every time I turn it on, the regular background is replaced by a blue screen with red letters that say "Warning! You're computer is in danger!" etc. It won't let me do anything, and this one scan thing comes up and scans. However, to remove the threats, it says I have to pay! So what I have been doing is shutting down the computer and then starting in safe mode. Then I do a system restore. However, whenI turn the computer off and turn it on again later, that stupid blue screen comes back! What do I do?

Hey Jessica,

U almost got it.

Go on "safemode with networking" and download a real virus scanner and spybot/spyware remover from a legitamte site. Then install and update them in safe mode with networking.

You need networking to go on the net(i think) but everything else I know for certain.

Go to download.com which is a website of CNET. And CNET is owned by CBS the big US media company so its legit.

Download

Spybot - This is a free spyware/adware remover
AVAST! - A free antivirus remover
AVG - another good antivirus.

SO get AVG and spybot

OR

AVAST! and spybot

but u cant get avast and avg. because they can conflict with each other even if one isnt scanning.

Hope this helps.

Tomb has it right. Sounds like you're being attacked by malware. I suggest getting Avast!. It's what I use and it's never given me any problems, and it updates every day automatically. Run a few scans with Avast! and Spybot and you should be fine.

I'd sing you a song, but I'm feeling quite off
in my heart; it's occupied,

and now's not the time.

Yes that really sounds like a virus, and Tomb already gave you the best instructions to get rid of it and prevent another getting into you computer in the future!
