iPod's Acting Up, Help?? - August 9th 2009, 01:17 PM

Every time I play a song on my iPod now, it plays through the first minute of the song, then skips to the half-way point of the next song on the list, plays that for a few seconds, then skips to somewhere in the middle of the next song. I haven't been able to get a full song to play back before it switches again. This is whether its playing through a playlist, or just the Songs list, or a specific artist's songs, or whatever. Its also going through different menus on its own. Does anyone know what's causing this? Is there anything I can do?

I plugged my iPod into my laptop, and checked to see if the iPod needed new software, but its up to date, so its not that. And I only have about one third of my songs on my laptop, and I won't have access to my home computer for a couple of months, so I don't want to restore my iPod unless there's no other way. If I do have to restore it, is there any way to copy my songs onto my laptop first so that I'll still have them and be able to put them back onto my iPod?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. I miss my music.

Have you tried re-setting it?

I'm not sure what iPod you have, but here's the list of instructions.

Re-setting it always works for me. My iPod likes to act up an awful lot. I'm not sure if it'll work for your problem, but I guess it's worth a try.

I've got a 5th generation iPod.Yes, I've tried re-setting it a few times. Usually if I have problems this works for me too. But its not working this time. And now its frozen. It won't even turn off or respond at all. And now when I plug it into my laptop it says my iPod is corrupted.

Hm, from the description there, I'm thinking maybe it's corrupted as it says, or damaged somehow.
Have you dropped it recently or let it get wet. Or did you bring it from a really cold place to a warm place?
The latters something alot of people don't see coming. I lost an mp3 player myself to that, I was outside whilst it was about -3C outside and came into my warm house and didn't realise it was covered in condensation and turned it on Wasn't a smart idea.
