Red face Dunno Where Else To Put This. - September 15th 2009, 10:36 PM

Ok, just a question.
If you sent someone dirty, not so clothed pictures, and they deleted them, is there a way for them to retrieve them for the sole purpose of ruining your life?
On Alltel.

Firstly, did they delete them or "delete" them? If they said they deleted them, but didn't then obviously they would still have them. Which would be very unfortunate on your behalf.

If they deleted them from their computer, it IS possible to recover things. Either restoring it from the recycle bin, using professional software, or paying a large amount of money for a professional to recover it.

However. If he did delete the pictures (from the recycle bin) then there is a very little chance that he would have the time and money to get them back. Also if you are under the age of 18 in the photos, I would recommend you contact the police, as it would technically constitute as child pornography.

If your talking about a computer... Its possible, but say they were deleted a few months ago and the computer is in frequent use, not realistically...

As I understand it, when you put something in the recycle bin and then empty it, it is simply hidden from view, and that disk space is available to be written over... When the computer is in frequent use, it is likely that space would have been written over therefore making them impossible to retrieve . However there is the option to buy software to retrieve files like that...

I'd like confirmation on that though

I'll confirm.
Also, I have to say it would actually be fairly easy to retrieve said deleted images with the right free software, you would just need the know-how.
So it ultimately depends on the person in question's technical proficiency.

Double confirmation
If they had any idea what they were doing it would not be hard to retrieve the pictures at all. Though, as Joel said, it's likely they would have been overwritten if they were deleted too long ago.

You said Alltel, so I think you're referring to photos on a mobile?
If so, it depends on the phone and medium of storage. If the photo was stored on the phone's internal memory, then chances of recovery are slim. There are a few programs available to recover images deleted from phones but they're not compatible with every phone.
If it was stored on a memory card, the images can be recovered by putting it into a computer and using recovery software like mentioned above me.
