Re: DS or PSP - January 7th 2009, 06:49 AM

I've seen a PSP, but own a DS. For my uses, a DS is the preferable option. I own a black DS Lite, and it's smaller than the PSP, and more compact and inconspicuous for me to use.

A PSP I could see being more useful for people wanting movies/videos to be more portable.

Re: DS or PSP - January 7th 2009, 07:39 AM

I was trying to decide this year, I found a good website for this- just put it into google. It helped me choose. I've never played a psp, but I love my DS!!! It is so portable, and has a long battery life. Plus the games are fun! Psp's just seem... too much? For me at least.

Re: DS or PSP - January 7th 2009, 10:21 AM

Having owned both systems, I have to say I prefer the DS. When I had my PSP a while back, it did have a few games I liked (Metal Gear Acid and Death Jr.), but I had so much trouble finding other games for it that I actually wanted to play. It was around that time that I got my first iPod nano, so I stopped using the PSP for music, and it eventually got to the point where I just didn't want it anymore.

With the DS, I know that the graphics aren't as great, but I just tend to have more fun with it, and it has a lot of games I can really enjoy, plus support for all the old GBA games I loved. The PSP is still a good system, just not for me.

I find that the DS has more family oriented/kids games, whereas a psp gaming is more adult based.

Re: DS or PSP - January 7th 2009, 12:56 PM

I own a DS and a PSP. I prefer the PSP. Not just for the wide variety of games, but the homebrew capabilities as well. I use it for everything, and it pretty much replaces the need for multiple devices alltogether. It's also a great way to play my PSX games and Snes/Nes/N64 games on the go.

I use the DS for boredom. I use it for things like Personal Trainer: Cooking and Crosswords. My mom actually uses it more than me unfortunately.

I'd rather the old fashioned DS to be truthful. I dont really get on with any playstation and hardly spend time on them anyways, so what would be the point in me buying one. LOL

I prefer the PSP...
I mean, the DS has loads of arcade-y and kids games which, with a few exceptions bore me shitless.
The PSP has a good few decent games and has all sorts of multimedia capabilities, like an mp3 player and all sorts, whilst the DS just feels really simplistic and stuff.

I've only played a DS before not a PSP so I don't know which is better. But I can say I liked the DS.

DS! Because it's the only one I've ever played and I love it. (My little sister has one and I often steal it).

I've played both DS & PSP and I think I prefer PSP. The DS is good and all but it's annoying have to use the stick thing because it takes a few times to get stuff right sometimes and the PSP has more features, like movies, internet etc.

Re: DS or PSP - January 8th 2009, 11:41 AM

I have both a PSP (phat, 1000, bulk-o-matic, whatever you wanna call it) and a Black DS Lite. I use my PSP all the time, and hardly touch my DS. reason being: I toy with the hardware and software for it to suit my needs. (I'm a modder). I "fixed" my brothers psp and my own so we can make copys of our UMDs so they won't get broken or scratched, and the load times are way faster. To do so for a DS is expensive, and the hardware to make backups for the games is hard to find and very expensive.

**EDIT**((Also, just a note, My PSP has a library of about 20 GBA games in it, as well as some NES games i ported. ;P))

I've got and used both. I like the PSP because not only can you just play games, but also listen to music and watch movies. I like the DS because of the touch screen and it's screen interactivity. The games that are available to play on it at the moment are good. Overall, I'm going to have to go with the DS.

Depends what you're into.

PSP is what you'd want if you're into Homebrew and such.

my sister has a DS and she adores it, but all she really does is play games on it.
I like the PSP for vids and music and stuff, I get more use out of it than for games.
Buuttt I ended up switching to an iPod classic for music/vids because it was all I used it for. So yeah, slightyly pointless. but whatever.

I hate how DS came out with the DS lite just a short time afterward. Then stopped making things for the regular DS. I cant get any more stylises for my regular DS anymore because of stupid nintendo.

PSP does more stuff I think...

I think both are poor. The DS as its pure gimimic (same as the Wii) and PSP simply because it's Sony and has sony software unless you hack its firmware.

Also the PSP UMD Movies died out so so fast.

Re: DS or PSP - January 12th 2009, 12:54 PM

I haven't actually owned either, but I prefer the PSP. Mainly because it has a wider range of titles. Nintendo have just seem too arcade-y and family orientated for me. I like the good old blood and gore games. Also, the dual screen element puts me off to be honest - I used it in a store a few times, and I just didn't like it.
The image quality on the PSP is just a lot better, in my opinion, and the controls are much more familiar.

Plus, hacking the firmware on a PSP is much more interesting.

I don't have either, but I'd really love a PSP. You can just do more on a PSP, plus I have a Wii for Nintendo games, so a PSP would be nice for the other things which Nintendo doesn't make.
