Acer Aspire 6530 Fan problems. - January 20th 2010, 01:53 AM

My laptop sits on a desk (idk what it's made out of but it's wood covered with some synthetic material and it gets hot quickly), and whenever the fan comes on (every 10 mins or so) the sound messes up, it crackles then stops completely and any videos I'm watching stop as well. I don't think this is normal, is there anything I can do to stop it...apart from put it up on a wire grill rack to get air beneath it and allow it circulate...

It's getting quite annoying, the power option is on high-performance, I have an external hard drive plugged in, the laptop is on 20-30 minutes before it starts doing this, and it doesn't stop. It's also 23c in here, my parents like the have the heating high for some reason.

Anything I can do?

I have attached the temperature chart from Speed Fan - That's in Celsius, I could cook an egg with the heat.

Well the temperature is a bit high (about max for a Turion) but not high enough that it'd cause any problems. However it's high enough to push the fan up to full speed.

I've heard of that problem before, but I haven't come across any solutions for Acer PC's (found some sort of a performance limiter that's keep the temps down but afaik it only works for Dell laptops). I'll repost if I find anything.

Well, I looked around for a solution as well. I bought an air can, took 2 panels from the bottom off and cleaned it out. The temperature is now 17c lower than before. Apparently it was the dust! Ha. Problem solved.
