what does this mean - March 11th 2010, 08:49 PM

came up when I tried to download AIM after my computer crashed a couple months ago. Just now are giving it another go.
"Install_AIM(2).exe" is an executable file. Executable files may contain viruses or other malicious code that could harm your computer. Use caution when opening this file. Are you sure you want to launch "Install_AIM(2).exe"?

It's basically just a warning that it could be a virus. It's not, so just click yes.

Yeah, as Janos says it should come up with that every time that you install a file like it. It just basically means it'll execute an installer and if you say no, you can't do so.

And it'll do that for everything. It doesn't mean it found a virus or anything like that, it just means that based on the type of file (and just about anything you install will be that same filetype) it thinks you should be careful because it may be a virus. Since you downloaded AIM from a trusted source (AOL), there should be absolutely no problem.

Wouldn't hurt anything to make sure you have an up to date virus checker installed though.
