laptop trouble - April 28th 2010, 02:28 PM

recently i have been having alot of problems with my laptop, its going slow ,its not doing what i want it to, it takes forever to load the internet, often crashes and i often crash memory dump blue screen error screen messages, and the battery often doesnt seem to charge. i took it into the tec guys at PC world. they said its a software problem, so i need to do a factory restore of my laptop, problem with this is, there is stuff on my laptop that i would rather keep than loose, pictures that i have delted of my camera, music i have bought from itunes, ect... i do have a memory stick but i will not be able to hold all of this. im running a disk defrag to see if this helps i have run one in the past and it seemed to help abit, it went faster for about week then was slow agian, i have all the last java updates, and windows updates and all that, so i know its not that. does anyone know what else i can do to get my laptop hopefully running alittle quicker as it is only a year old these arent the sort of problems you expect from a laptop that is only a little over a year old. yet it still seems sooooooooo slow.. im hoping the disk defrag will help, but if it doesnt what else can i do ? is a disk cleanup the same as disk defrag ? i dont have any computer games installed on my laptop as i know they take up alot of space. though i do have alot of images and music stored on it but they shouldnt take up to much space ?

To be honest I think restoring it is the best option (and afterwards you might like to try out an antivirus). I'd ask around to see if anyone you know has an external hard drive, you should be able to fit everything on there - though migrating iTunes can be a pain, hopefully someone else can help you with that.

As well as deleting your history, have a look in Options.

Then you're not the administrator. Try logging out (I think the later Windows have a "switch user" option) and into the administrator account.

Cookies are stored as system files of some sort I think... so you should be able to just delete them manually. Im not sure where exactly though.

"I don't care about politics"
Then politics doesn't care about you either. Truth. You've got to make your voice heard, if you want to be listened to. But that's too logical for some people, so let me go a step further. Not making your voice heard, leaves other people free to hijack it by speaking on your behalf, even if they don't actually give a shit about you. That's politics. So, make your voice heard. That's not a quote from anywhere. That's just me.
