HELP! - May 17th 2010, 07:49 PM

So my computer's been crashing today and idk why =/

First it froze and I kept getting some error messages like "operation failed" and then the task bar disappeared so I restarted it, it worked alright then for a while.

Now I just got blue screen of death and my laptop temperature is really high and idk why coz I'm not doing anything massively demanding.

This is the error message

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3
Locale I 2057

Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: 1a
BCP1: 00005003
BCP2: C0802000
BCP3: 00001D1C
BCP4: 01D15A3A
OS Version: 6_0_6001
Service Pack: 1_0
Product: 768_1

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini051710-01.dmp
C:\Users\Cara\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-67876-0.sysdata.xml
C:\Users\Cara\AppData\Local\Temp\WER84D8.tmp.versi on.txt

Any ideas what it was and if it's going to happen again?

Also, my laptop has a lump at the bottem that's really hot? Is that normal?

Where is your laptop being used? It it on a desk, your bed, your lap?

Computers require airflow in order to operate within safe temperatures. If you're blocking any of the ventilation areas of your laptop, that could quickly overheat internal components, causing blue screens. Additionally, a computer virus or malware could also be playing havok on your machine.

When you look at your laptop, do you see any dust buildup around the ventilation slots, or does it appear clean?

My laptop's on the table most of the time and everytime it crashed it had been on the table.

There's nothing blocking the fans and no dust there either so I don't know what it could be.

If it only happens once I'd leave it. If it happens again I'd send it in for repairs - either it's overheating (which would indicate cooling problems) or the RAM's dying.

As an aside, did you upgrade your version of Windows recently?

Nope, the laptop came with Vista. Unless you mean the update things which install on their own when I shut my laptop down.

I would suggest contacting your manufacturer's technical support for this, if it's having heating issues, then it's likely there are going to be some repairs that need to be made. If you'd like, I could (remotely) take a look at it, however we'd both have to be online at the same time.

OK then I'd contact tech support (it's just that if you had say tried to installed Win 7 on it and messed up the install, something like this could happen - but you didn't, in which case it's entirely not your fault).
