Really bad virus - June 1st 2010, 02:03 AM

My mum's computer has the anti-spyware soft virus. And I tried everything on the other thread. I can't get the computer into safe mode, it wouldn't let me, it kept saying that there was a problem with the computer starting every time I put it in safe mood, so I tried doing in as was, and fixed the proxy settings. Didn't help. I tried manually removing it, but I can't open task manager, command prompt, or restore points, or any of that. Any advice guys?

If its a UNREMOVABLE virus then you may need to do a reinstall of windows first back up your files then insert your windows disc and reinstall..and get a good av like http://www.avast.com

Ahh, I think I know the one.
Is it stopping you from opening any program? Instead just opening itself?

If so, I know exactly how to get rid of it, my laptop got this a couple months back.

Brittany, I read the thread, it didn't help. Tried everything on it. And Janos, yeah it was. Mum finally broke down and took it to a professional to get it fixed, because, apparently, I'm not completely qualified to fix computers. Thanks for the help though guys.

Ahhhh that virus ><!!! I hated that one! I had it on my laptop not to long again.

What helped me is, Get a programmed called "Malware Bytes"

Download it, run the scan, and remove the virus.

Microsoft also provides their own free protection software:

Ooh, I know this one!
My computer had this not too long ago.

http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antispyware-soft.html

After that I believe we had to download and use a program called Hijackthis (don't worry, it's legit)

Re: Really bad virus - June 6th 2010, 02:51 PM

Ah, you don't strictly need the hijackthis, it's a diagnostic tool really, more for when you've got a really weird problem, it'll produce a report that can be used.

Though to be honest, I'm not sure what use it would be in this situation.

Anyways, since the OP has had it fixed anyways, I'll close this thread now.
