Vista UGH. - June 17th 2010, 07:42 PM

I doubt anyone has a fix for this but i just thought i would try incase

I'm trying to log onto my mom's computer. She has Vista.

Everytime it goes to the desktop, i type in my password and it says "the user profile service failed the log on"

I have the disk but there are no restore points. :/
Safe mode just brings me to a black screen.

If anyone has any idea what this could be i would appreciate it.

When you login, do you actually see a desktop? If so, Microsoft has a solution for this.

If you are not extremely comfortable editing your registry, or have not done this before, please let me know - any mistake made while editing the registry can cause the operating system to become irrepairably damaged, and would have to be reinstalled.
