My falshdrive... - November 10th 2010, 11:57 PM

My flashdrive is broken, it has like my entire life on it. EVERYTHING I have EVER written in saved on it, and I only have one copy of a few of them. The computer isn't reading it, I've tried three different ones and none of them work. Is there any way that I could open it for maybe like a minute and move all my documents onto the computer? I am so always keeping a hard copy of EVERYTHING I write now.

Okay...listen.
This happened to one of my classmates too.
Did you try each of the portals? Normally, on a laptop, you need the top one on the left-hand side for it to work.
Try this and tell me how it goes!

If your computer isn't reading any, it's probably the computer's problem, not the drive. Try different USB ports, and if that doesn't work, try a different computer.

I tried three different computers, the family one, my brother's old desktop, and my brother's new laptop. I've tried it in every single port and my flashdrive still isn't working.

Then unfortunately I think you might have a broken flashdrive. You might have lost all your stuff.

Happened to me

Even worse happened to my friend. He ran and operated a large scale buisness off his apple macbook, it got stolen and screwed him over. Now he is couch surfing, has no source of income and is pretty much homeless if he didn't have friends.

Sounds like there is nothing you can really do about it. Except learn a lesson. You should back up everything that you don't want to lose on a computer.

This happened to me a couple of months ago. My usb got wet and I lost all my life there, now I keep everything backed up in my computer, maybe you should try going to a computer expert to see if they can save something.
Good Luck.

I'd strongly suggest taking it to a computer shop where they could take a look at the drive. In rare chase's there could be a mechanical issue. They should be able to get your information back.

Re: My falshdrive... - November 19th 2010, 09:24 PM

This has happened to me but mine was worst case. Definitely take it into a computer place and see if they can do anything about it. Worst case is the computer cannot read it because something got corrupted or you forgot to eject it properly before taking it out. Here you would have to reformat/wipe the entire thing.

One weird thing that happened to me too was I plugged my flash drive into my computer(Mac), put a file on it, ejected it. Then the next day I plugged it into a PC and it wouldn't read my flash drive yet it reads on other PCs that I've used. Try different computers/OS as well to see if it shows up on any of them but definitely take it into a computer place.
