i hate my computer - December 6th 2010, 07:32 AM

Whenever i play a video for more then a few minutes my computer just SHUTS OFF. Like what the heck? Why does it do this?! Not like anything is blocking the fan or anything. Does anyone know if i can do anything about this?

Computers aren't really my thing, but mine used to do a similar thing. Nothing was physically blocking the fan, but the fan was covered in dust and... stuff. Was advised to just hoover it off or get an can of compressed air to blow it away.

Worked a treat.

Computer games? Turning off? Graphics card I would assume. Over heating and what not.

This.

Without knowing most of your other computer specs, there's not really much I can say

Sad fact of the matter is: most computers just aren't cut out for gaming.

It goes off after 4 or 5 minutes. Sometimes it goes off if my blanket is blocking the fan, so i know its an overheating issue maybe??

Oh. I thought you said video gaming. Oopsy

Anyway. If it's only when you watch videos, it could be that your computer might not be able to handle doing that, and therefore turns itself off to avoid exploding, or something. Is it an old PC?
