Blackberry issue - January 19th 2011, 06:53 PM

I swear, if it's not one thing, it's another. So, my car's battery went dead, and I was outside for about 15 minutes in the cold, talking to the guy who was jumping my car. I had called AAA, and AAA had called me about 10 minutes before the guy came. My phone was perfectly fine.

Anyway, so I came inside and I went to check my messages. My phone was a little damp from the snow on my gloves, but it wasn't soaking wet or anything. It's gotten much wetter before in the rain.

I was pressing random buttons and it wouldn't go off the black screen. Then a few minutes later, the 'rebooting' bar showed up, like it does when I have an update. Okay. So my phone turned on like normal, then the message "Would you like to allow Poynt to access your phone?" I went to press yes, but my phone would allow me to. I tried pressing any random button, but nothing worked.

My phone went black, like it does when it goes to sleep. I told my roommate, and she suggested I take the battery out and try to reboot it. Brilliant - why didn't I think about that?

So I did that, and the loading bar comes up again. Only this time it's flashing red, and the battery symbol comes up with a big red "X". After awhile, the battery turns blue.

I take the battery in and out again, and this time when it turns on it's flashing gray.

Why is this happening? I googled it, and a few people said they had to go get replacements. This isn't good. I've had my Blackberry for around 7 months now. (It's a Blackberry Curve.)

I'm about to lose my mind...I can't go long without my phone. It's my central mode of communication, especially since I'm two hours away from home. Living in a college apartment, I'm only allowed to use the land line for local calls.

Has anyone else experienced this? I really, really hate driving without my cell phone on me.

Yup. 5 handsets in a six month period and now using my boyfriends old iPhone until my contract runs out.

Try taking the battery out, plugging the charger in, and then putting the battery in about 20 mins later.

I have had handsets that crash continuously/reboot (3 handsets), and others which didnt allow me to do anything. Make sure you are cleaning your cache memory and cookies every so often too. And also do a battery pull around once a week

Hi,

I tried that, and sadly, it did not work.

I've come to the conclusion that it's not my battery. Because when the phone isn't recognizing the battery, it's a red line through it. I had that at first, but now it's a blue line - which means my phone is fully charged.

I'm thinking it has to be something to do with the keys, like there's a key lock or something - which doesn't make sense. :/

I'm probably going to have to end up finding a local U.S. Cellular store and taking it in, unless someone else here can suggest something else for me to do.

just get a replacement through your insurance. i'm assuming you have insurance? if not, contact the provider or take it into the shop.

It turns out, I didn't have to get a replacement (Though, yes, it is under insurance). It was just a battery issue. I took it in yesterday and they fixed it within five minutes.

Now, I just have to deal with my car, which isn't starting again. It's one thing after another with me.
