Cell phone/plan recommendations? - February 6th 2011, 06:26 PM

Hey, I finally have a good enough job to afford a cell phone, something that I really do need. I want a phone that is practical, doesn't have to be flashy or really high-tech. Just something that will work well and is easy to use. Does anyone know what companies offer good/cheap plans? Any information or recommendations would be appreciated, since I am not to great with this whole technology thing :P Thanks!

Don't go with Telus. They like to fuck people over, and their service is absolute shit. My dad has Bell, and they seem to have really good service. Their plans are pretty cheap too, as long as you don't go overboard. I'm not sure what exactly you're going to be using your phone for the most (Internet, calling, texting, or all three), so I can't offer a ton of advice. Good luck!

Not sure if it is available in Canada, but Net10 is a really good prepaid company in the US. It costs just about $00.10/minute. No charges, no contract, no nothing. If you want to cancel, you just don't use your phone for a week or two after your service expires. If you talk 150 minutes or less a month, you end up with phone service for $15/month (all figures in US dollars) which is a REALLY good deal. That's my recommendation.

I think I am going to check out Bell since I don't think we have Net10 where I live. Thanks!
