Facebook question - April 2nd 2011, 12:57 AM

Random question... but why am I seeing people's status' in my news feed that aren't my friends? Like there's friends of friends posts on my news feed. Not that I care, I'm just confused.

And why do people randomly dissapear from my friends list, then reappear two days later.

I only know the answer to the first question.

It's because a mutual friend has commented on their activity, and you've had recent contact with that mutual friend. My guess anyways.

Re: Facebook question - April 2nd 2011, 03:42 AM

I can answer the second question. Often times people will voluntarily "disable" their Facebook which makes it look like they don't exist for a time. I think they do so out of the idea that disabling them will take away a temptation, even though it's really easy to re-enable it.

Another reason could be that Facebook temporarily takes their profile offline. This can happen for a variety of reasons, although the first reason is more likely.
