Chat Problem - April 23rd 2011, 06:50 PM

The Bugs and Suggestions forum seems to be full, so I thought I should post this here. If it's in the wrong place, please move it.

Every time I try to log onto chat, I always see this message:

I've downloaded the latest version of Java, and tried this on Firefox, Chrome, IE, Opera, NetScape, Lunascape, SeaMonkey, Arora, Cometbird, Comodo Dragon, Avant, Safari, K-Meleon and Maxthon... basically every browser I could find out there, but still it doesn't work.

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Always happy to help.

Thanks for pointing that out! I had added it, but it wasn't showing up within the [IMG] tags.

Trying clearing your cookies and emptying your browser cache. I recommend you backup your important passwords. If that doesn't help PM/VM me.

Perhaps you need to scream and make a wish while slapping the screen.

Or take it to a technology center? Maybe it has to do with your programs.. do you have java downloaded?

Yeah, it's not java that seems to be the problem.

I messaged Rob a few hours ago. So far no reply.

I looked around on Google a bit and people with AVG 2011 report problems with using Java script due to a bug in the programming. I don't understand the computer babble but the issue is from the LinkScanner feature in AVG 2011. According to the following article, AVG 2011 somehow wedges itself between the browser and website so it blocks the Java script. All the computer babble and extra details are here: http://news.softpedia.com/news/AVG-2...s-160515.shtml (Article is from October 2010).

I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

Javascript and Java are completely different languages. Guru's Java is working perfectly it's just the application he is trying to use (In this case, TeenHelp Chat) is not working correctly for him, for some odd reason.
