What should I do if I get a malware warning on TH? - June 19th 2011, 03:09 PM

I was trying to view someone's page, and I got this warning! I'm using linux OS, so I ignored it and continued. Also, I have an adblocker. Has anyone else had this problem? Shall I just ignore it?

I've had a similar problem off of TH. Generally, your system is already infected and the warning is generated by the malware itself, especially if it's one where you need to pay for virus removal or something along those lines. If so, the more you ignore it, the more damage you risk to your system and the more "back-doors" you risk being made. In this event, ad-blockers do nothing because they're unrelated. Do you have an anti-virus software on your computer? If so, are you able to run it or has it already been compromised by the malware?

When I had it, I needed my hard-drive wiped clean as it was the only feasible way to fix it. If you keep getting warnings saying you have a malware or spy-ware infection, you should bring it to a computer store right away, unless you have enough experience and programs to fix it yourself (which you don't).

I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

When it happened to me it was because a picture in someones sig was Linked to a virus.
It should say on the warning why it has popped up. When I got it is said it was because of the picture. Take a screenshot of it and send it to Rob and he might be able to help more.

I personally would just ignore it, but if you want an anti-virus application go to:
