As the smoke clears
I awaken, and untangle you from me
Would it make you, feel better to watch me while I bleed?
All my windows, still are broken
But I'm standing on my feet

LightWorks is arguably the best free yet professional video editor as of now. It is an open source software that has previously been used in the making of well-known movies like Shutter Island, Centurion, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Mission Impossible, etc.

If used together with Blender (a video sequence editor that's awesome for creating incredible Hollywood-like video openings and 3D contents), then professional-level videos are totally possible.

Of course, one huge draw back is that both LightWorks and Blender would take a lot of time to learn. I have experience with Adobe After Effects so it wasn't all that bad for me, but if you just jump into with zero experience, then expect some confusion.

Still, tutorials are available on the internet; video tutorials are also available on sites like YouTube. Dedicate two or three months into studying these and you will easily become fluent with both.
