ipod freezing -

hey so my ipod keeps freezing up causing me to have to restart it. anyone know why this is happening? it is a 2nd generation ipod. i have had it for a year and my friend i bought it from had it for about a year before that. any ideas or clues? any help would be greatly appreciated. and any questions you have that could help you help me, i will do my best to answer.

Have you tried restoring it to the factory settings? If not, I'd suggest doing that.
It also might help if you format it. To do this don't let it sync automatically with itunes and stop itunes from opening automatically when the ipod is plugged in and if you're on windows go to "My Computer" and format it by right clicking the Ipod symbol. ![]() |

i havent tried either of those. i dont have a computer- my friend is the one who updates my ipod and such on itunes. can i restore it to factory settings from the ipod itself? and btw it is the itouch if i didnt mention that before.
