Pokémon - July 7th 2011, 10:25 PM

We've been talking about Pokémon for a while on chat so I thought I'd make this thread ^____^ What's your favourite generation? Mine is still 2nd gen It was such a huge step-forward from generation 1, I loved the eggs, I love the night/day, I loved how you could go back to Kanto and I loved everything about it. I still love 1st gen as it's nostalgic but my personal favourite is still 2nd

-is playing Pokemon Yellow on a rom right now -

Random question about roms: Can you trade Pokemon from one rom to another using mac (1st gen)? I'm pretty certain you can do it on PC but Idk about mac.

Re: Pokémon - July 8th 2011, 02:40 AM

Mine is probably the 3rd gen (Pokemon Emerald, I think it's third gen, correct me if I'm wrong). I've heard that it is possible to trade from 1 ROM to another but I'm not sure if you need a program to do it. If you do there should be a Mac alternative. If there isn't use Wine to see if it will work. I would recommend backing up your saved games before trying to trade Pokemon because your saved data may become corrupt.

You can get Wine at:

I really loved 4th generation (Dimound, Pearl, Platinum). The graphics took a turn for the best and the pokemon types and etc was really well done.

I unfourtunatly had to stop at that, since my brother lost my DS.. :/

Ummm hard choice. The gameplay from Black/White is amazing... But the first 151 pokemon. OMG. Blissful days as a 12 year old grinding and grinding my Charmander so I could beat Brock. Life was amazing, pokemon was amazing. Everything was Amazing

I started with Generation 4, then went back and played the others. Gen 4 still holds a special spot in my heart...

I started Pokemon Black, but I can't seem to get into it.

Red/Blue due to nostalgia, and the fact that a vast majority of new generations seem to just be really stupid, like they ran out of ideas (both for plot and new pokemon). Original 151 ftw.

Yes, it's that simple.

Life for you has been less than kind
So take a number, stand in line
We've all been sorry, we've all been hurt
But how we survive is what makes us who we are.

And the day pressed on like crushing weights,
For no man does it ever wait.

Re: Pokémon - July 14th 2011, 03:28 PM

Emerald/Ruby/Saphire were 3rd Gen right? Those ones. Loved them. Pokemon has gotten worse recently. I don't want 3D graphics, especially with the amount of screen-tear they have on the DS. Should have stuck with 2d pixels..

I thought about you for the rest of the day.
Catching my head turning to find you again.
I hated myself for it.

Definitely first.
But I really like Leaf Green and Fire Red because it's just like red/blue but with better graphics. And some new Pokémon at the end which was cool too.

Re: Pokémon - July 14th 2011, 07:14 PM

I'd have to say the first. Like I loved them all the way up to Sapphire/Ruby, and Diamond/Pearl made a few bad choices with pokemon that don't bother me horribly (still love the game), but you just can't trump the original

Re: Pokémon - July 14th 2011, 07:43 PM

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm third, purely because that was when I really started to get into it. Also, Torchic. So cute.
As to ROM trading, I've done it using VBA, but I don't know if that would work on a Mac.
